What beer are you drinking now? #2291

Drinking a Canned Chamelion by Toppling Goliath's Warped Roots brand. Not sure what hops are in here but it's grassy and pineapple-y. Very Tasty.

 

A result of an accident. I forgot this was in my fridge, but it is a tasty treat that shocked me how good it tastes aged.

Haha had a feeling it was a PRS but I doubted myself. Way off on the Gibson. Never seen that tailpiece on a Gibson before. Going to listen to the tunes now.

 

My second, and last beer for the night. A 2017 Ballast Point High West Bourbon and Rye Barrel-Aged Victory At Sea Vanilla Coffee Porter. I had one about two months ago, and didn't think it was anything special, but this time around, it just feels really soft, smooth, and rich. I'm quite enjoying it. It's a rather nice example of a barrel treated beer. Almost a licorice note. Perhaps that High West Rye? Damn... Too bad it's my last one. Should have cellared this for a couple more years. Oh well. I have a Vanilla BCBS in the cellar. I promise I will not touch it until at least 2020....I promise I will try not to...

Hoof Hearted Thanks For Letting Us Play Tonight. Fantastic NEAPA. Lasting head retention/thick soapy lacing. Aromas and flavors of huge tangerine, orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bread dough malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; balanced creamy/bready/grainy wheat/oats, sticky hops; and some resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering resin dryness; no hop astringency. Very smooth/soft, 5.5%. Amazing Galaxy profile. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; with a nice wheat/oat/malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness from lingering resin dryness. Spot on style, got a pack after the review. Hope we see other stuff from them soon.

This is the closest craft brewed version of Guinness that I ever had.

 

Moving on, time to kill off this howler of Ozark Beer Co.'s Good Morning Julia Imperial Stout. At 10.2% ABV, not going without a fight

 

Always excellent. Flavors of big caramel, brown sugar, honey, toasted biscuit, and nutty malts; with balanced cinnamon, ginger, clove, and herbal spice earthiness. Hints of cherry/raisin yeast fruitiness. Light herbal/spice bitterness on the finish. Creamy/bready/grainy malt mouthfeel; with light spice stickiness. Bit of dryness, no astringency. Very smooth and drinkable. I prefer the Thirsty Dog version, but this is always delicious every year regardless. Perfectly balanced bready malt, honey, and spices; with mild complementing fruity English yeast notes. Still have plenty left, my parents gave me a bunch of it last month for free.
