    Today is my 4 year anniversary on this site, mostly here at the bar. I’ve made lots of great friends and look forward to making many more. Since joining I’ve met several of you virtual bar mates in person, and I’ve drank well over 2,818 different beers along the way.

    Cheers to BA for being the welcoming knowledgeable place that it is, and Cheers to all of you, my friends!

    Ebony body topped with a very thick, creamy and dense light tan head. Luscious aroma of gently sweet cocoa and baker's chocolate; some charred grain and fruity esters; peanut butter. Incredible bursts of flavor, highlighting sweet chocolate, bourbon and, yes, maple syrup; some bitterness. Thick and velvety texture to the beer; heavy with residual sugars

    This is one damn fine beer! Great appearance and aroma but, brother, the taste and mouthfeel are exceptional. It reminds me of a boozy chocolate brownie. I will be picking more up when the chance arises again...

    As the beer warms up as I nurse this along, the bourbon really develops a nice edge to things, adding some nice contrast to the heavy sweetness. The beer still remains balanced and complex...

    Dark deep ruby color when held to the light but appears almost black in the hand. Very consistent color from edge to edge with large lasting tan cap and lacing.

    A rich yet slightly subdued aroma of dark caramel, roasted malt, lightly spicy as if it were just touched with allspice and dark ripe figs.

    Taste is surprising for such a big aroma and appearance. Oh there's plenty of it, make no mistake, yet the restraint with which the different flavors come forth is rather like chamber music from the larger stringed instruments. Resounding but not aggressive. I was pleased to find on entry the flavor of well roasted malt without the bitter edge that such malt often carries. Right behind that followed deep but bright flavors of spiced dark fruit. I don't get clove in the spices, something milder like allspice. Nor banana though there is something that offsets the dark fruits. Hops are in there for all I know but keep a low profile. There is, from beginning to end, a sort of sweetness that doesn't intrude but contributes to the overall complexity.

    have u had the original batch or the batch with the mounty on the horse? way better this beer isnt even the same anymore in my opinion, but thats just splitting hairs i guess still a nice beer.

    Just took Rocket the Wonder Dog (aka 'Thundering Buffalo') on his morning walk, and still nursing this beautiful beast known as 'CBS'...



    And still my favorite rap album (not that I have that many), but this tape was also a big highlight for me back in southern PA/MD/DC back in the days of 'The Shark' -- me mighty '91 Chevy Cavalier -- back in the early 90s when that area was my stomping ground...
