It's not barrel aged, the ingredients were just cardboard box aged. I also agree it doesn't sound appetizing to me

I am increasingly becoming embarrassed to say I like beer. Disgusting is the only tasting note I can imagine applies to that stout.

OH has a habit of magically finding pallets of beer.

That stout sounds absolutely horrendous. OH must be laughing at how dumb some people are. Bet this sells out by tomorrow night. Pastry stouts are one of the worst fads to ever hit the craft beer community.

As I read this post, I was drinking a Barrier Lights Out. That’s what a stout should be. I miss roasty stouts.

Ehh, in a beer that big I bet it doesn't taste nearly as much like all of the delicious ingredients as one could expect.

Lactose is cool, pastry stouts are cool, pilsners are cool, beer is cool.

The great thing about craft beer these days is that we're paralyzed by choice. I don't see the point in bitching about the trends in beer that we don't like when there's a wealth of beers out there that will fulfill the wants of whoever.

Just don't drink it if you don't like it.

Lactose is not cool. As a lac intolerant individual who loves beer I am going to scream that to my grave. Life was a lot simpler before I had to check all over the can and/or online (not always labeled) to know if my IPA is gonna go Motezumas Revenge on me.

While I agree with regards to transparency, everything after that is a "you" problem.

Oh I wasn’t squashing your point, people can gargle and chug all the leftover fruity pebble milk-beer their stomachs can handle it’s a free country. Just saying it goes beyond taste and hype - not always about choice when 50%+ of OH beers these days are off limits to lactose intolerant individuals.

And for those of us who just don’t want a shit ton of milk sugar in our beer. Of course there are a lot of other beers for those of us who don’t want/can’t have lactose, but it DOES seem like every other stout and IPA are loaded with it now. No sir, I don’t like it.
Edit: that being said, there are a few “desert” stouts that I enjoy.

Look at it as a blessing... They make too much beer to realistically drink and enjoy. Tons of FOMO in their business model with them releasing daydream version of anything they make. You can zoom in on each relase and not have option paralysis.
