On Tap In The Twin Cities - 2019

Red Wagon has 5 Barrel Theory beers on tap if you’re looking for haze within Minneapolis. They also have CBS, Christmas Bomb, Lost Moon, etc on for the stout lovers.

 

Pretty convinced I had the best beer in 2019 already- FSB from Fair State, was on tap as of yesterday at the tap room. A little chocolate + orange zest, borders on too sweet but not quite. Just a fantastic beer!

 

Looks like Town Hall will have on tap all of the base beers for their BA Week beers. Anyone know if they've done this before?

To my memory, they haven't released them en masse before, but I like the idea.

Individually, they have released Eye of the Storm, Russian Roulette, & Twisted Reality for sure. Perhaps the Cherry Grand Cru as well. I have no memory of Foolish, though.

 

That's what I was thinking. I've seen randoms here and there but never all at once. I might be poppin' in for that.

 

I agree that the new FSB stout is fantastic. Stopped in for a couple at Fair State yesterday and their tap list is great. FSB, Double Spirit Foul, Upick 2018, Razz Roselle, 1170 Miles, Mister Falcon on still.

 

Finally had a chance to stop by Town Hall today. Russian Roulette is pretty damn good.

Town Hall is currently pouring 2014 vintage Buffalo Bock.

 

Edit: It's 2014 Weizenbock, and their menu is a bit confusing. It's alright although I think I prefer it fresh.

 

Hey all - going to Dangerous Man for the first time this Saturday with a buddy. Anything you recommend definitely trying? I see they just posted about a new Strawberry Passionfruit Milkshake IPA, that sounds tasty . Was told to get Young Joni pizza and bring it in, so should be a fun day!

 

It would be sacrilegious to go and not have the PB porter. Grab it on nitro if available. Hard to have any other PB porter after trying DM’s.

 

And the chocolate milk stout. Phased to find something there that isn’t enjoyable.

 

I have heard the lore of the PB Porter! Will try, and the Choc Milk Stout is right up my alley. Thank you!

 

Chocolate Milk Stout and Peanut Butter Porter are the beers for which Dangerous Man is best known. Both rise above their gimmicky ingredients and are quite enjoyable.

Young Joni is a good restaurant recommendation, but not for takeout. It's a hot spot with a cool venue and high prices to match; you're paying in part for ambiance. If you're not going to sit at the restaurant, the food alone, while good, probably won't give you your money's worth, and you'll be missing out on arguably the biggest draw of the place. Just my two cents.

 

They have crowlers of both typically on hand at their to-go shop just to the north of the taproom. If there's too many draft options to choose from in the taproom you can always just get the milk stout and PB porter to-go.

As for Young Joni, pizza is definitely worth while. So is the secret speakeasy / back bar behind the restaurant. Just take the alley between Young Joni and Dangerous Man and look for a door with a red light above it. Go ahead and go in, I'm guessing as cold as it's going to be this weekend that the bouncer will be sitting inside the door in the entry area. The pizza options are more limited then what the restaurant offers but the ambiance and cocktail options more then make up for it.

If you want to complete the sweep for that intersection, make a pit stop at Sleepy V's across the street to the south for some upscale mini donuts. Just watch your time, they close at 6:00 pm.
