Amazing batch this year as usual. Flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, fudge, brownie batter, marshmallow, vanilla, caramel, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark bread; with lighter notes of coconut, smoke, charcoal, raisin, fig, cherry, and dates. Touch of booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Light roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spice on the finish. Very full bodied creamy, silky, velvety mouthfeel; some light slickness, sticky hops, chalky roast, and barrel tannins. Lightly increasing dryness from bitter char and bourbon/oak tannin. No cloying, acrid, astringency. Dangerously smooth sipper, mildly warming 12.9%, zero barrel booze. Definitely a step up from the base beer on complexity, super rich. Classic RIS flavors with awesome barrel presence/integration; without being overly tannic, drying, or boozy. Love the marshmallow/fudge brownie notes that come from the barrel aging. Has finally become a shelf beer this year. It used to be pretty rare for us a few years ago.

Amazing. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, peanut butter, dark roasted coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, fudge, marshmallow, toasted biscuit, and dark bread; with light notes of molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, wood, leather, herbal, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal, woody, spicy hop; and roast, char, coffee bitterness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body. Very creamy, silky, bready malts; light sticky hops and chalky char/roast in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering hop/char bitter dryness. No acrid/astringency. Dangerously smooth, minimal warming 11.9%. Amazing balance of rich malts, fruity/nutty coffee, and PB flavors; with solid earthy hops against sweetness. Spot on for a dessert style imperial stout. Not overly sweet or bitter either way. Will definitely get some more of this while I can. Nice amount of PB presence for only being a flavoring for the coffee.

Awesome DIPA. Great rocky head retention/thick soapy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, red grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate cracker, white bread dough malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/bready/grainy malt and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Very smooth, not overly aggressive, minimal warming 8%. Great Cascade, Citra, Columbus, Ella, Mosaic profile. Great mix of juicy, vibrant, dank, and earthy hop complexity; nice oat/malt backbone, minimal residual sweetness from crisp resin dryness. Very well attenuated for the ABV. Nothing flashy, just a really well made west coast DIPA.

1st Review on BA Thrill! Discover an all-time favorite DIPA.
    a) Starting with appearance this beer exceeds lacing up a white wash around a snifter, and lasting over a hazed coppery, apricot body.
    s) Excels in aroma, peaceful hops offer grass, flowers, hemp, a bit of wood and scat.
    t) Follows the smell, and going to work well with good food: all the above, plus pine, wood, sawdust, the oil on the blade.
    f) Suitably prickly, ticklely, fervent, awake, energetic, good weight and body.
    o) A star DIPA, Try 24.

Thrilled to be first reviewer of the HOOK. Happy name for our community as it lays inside the bayward curve of Sandy Hook that separates our bay shores from the Atlantic, and over which we see Manhattan gliding silver, golden, or gray - depending on the time of day.
    A) This beer slams forward with fruit in the late hopped NE pale style. Hazed bomb with puffy white lacing and lasting head.
    S) Fruit I wanted to dive in. Hop fresh barrel.
    T) Hop fruit wheat treat.
    F) Slick, finishes clean and bitey.
    O) One of the best contemporary NE style late hopped fruit pale ales ever.

Thrilled to be 2d review of this fave porter. My home town brewer Carton brews famous coffee beers, this one, at a lower ABV equals.
    a) dark amber body with suitably creamy, lacey, lasting crema head.
    s) Just right coffee / herbal /roast / woddy aroma along with hop profile.
    t) Likewise, more and adding nutty, fresh brewed notes. After all Beer is brew.
    f) Just right bite.
    o) As good as any coffee beer in the world.

Thrilled to be the 1st reviewer.
The strength of this spruce goose brew is intense for a little 3.9% ABV.
    a) thin light cloud of yellow amber body with thin head by constant rim.
    s) Wine-like, sauvignon blanc, dry, spirited, gin and juniper.
    t) More, ample, and probably really healthy, but all the above in a powerful fistful of herbs and winter-summery sunshine.
    f) Light, astringent, cleansing, scrubbing.
    o) Beats any other spruce beer I've tried, so you try it too!

Fantastic as usual. Big flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, lemon, citrus peel/rind, red apple, light peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, and light nutty/toffee malt sweetness; with herbal, floral, grassy hop and yeasty earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body. Balanced hop stickiness and creamy/bready malt creaminess in the mouthfeel; touch of slickness and resins/rinds. Light-moderate increasing resin drying finish; never astringent on hops, or cloying on sweetness. Mild increasing warmth, dangerously smooth drinking. I realize this beer is basically Gnarlywine with brown sugar added; but when fresh this is like a blend of Arrogant Bastard-like strong ale and American barleywine. Centennial, Cascade, Horizon, Willamette, and Liberty hops. Amazingly well balanced between juicy/dank/earthy hops, fruity yeast, sugar, and malts. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. Love it fresh and aged for different reasons. I buy a pack every year.
