The mainpage thread about breweries in funeral homes got me to wondering; are any of the McMennamens properties in an old hospital? Seems like a good fit, plenty of rooms for the hotel part, lots of space for theaters and such, a big kitchen....

Edgefield Manor is probably as close as any place comes (that I can think of). It was established as a poor farm back in 1911, where it housed the poor, ill and indigent for a while. The manor later was used as a nursing home, before it was eventually abandoned in the 80's (which is how the brothers became involved I believe). It's actually listed on the National Register of Historic places I believe.

I don’t think there are any actual hospitals or morgues or anything like that. Unsure if they are drawing the line somewhere or if those properties are just too big.

A few mentions on the internet that McMenamin's Edgefield had an asylum and/or hospital wing when in its day as a poor farm. Some say it is haunted.

    right.

I'll say not as haunted or scary as other places with bad hummus plates and tap lines that are cleaned...never.

I stay there once, so now it's definitely haunted.
