Pipeworks is curiously missing from the list of breweries attending GI Stout Fest...

To those of you who have had it, I am curious, is it any different than the Mosaic ninja bombers? Or is it pretty much the same?

Very similar, and very good - I could be wrong, but I perceived it to be slightly less sweet.

PW mentioned it's the same OG DIPA recipe. Was the same with Citra as well.

Dammit, you guys! I snagged the last can at my local TJ's. Now, not only do I have to hunt down some more of this, I'm gonna have to explain yet another PW 4-pack to the wife!

Agree on Mosaic, as good as I remember. Love the new can format for these. Would love see Galaxy Unicorn make a comeback in cans in the near future.

Use to love the ninja bombers, did not enjoy citra when they released it in cans. Didn't bother with mosaic due to that. Citra was malty and boozy when I had it in cans, fresh too

I am coming late to the canned ninja party, when I realized Mosaic is one of the OGs I haven’t had yet. Looked around and came up dry all over town, and then found tons of it at Binny’s on Marcey this evening.

$20 for the mosaic ninja 4pack was a little pricey, is it really that amazing?

I’ll report back tonight if things go according to plan.

Bombers used to be... $7-9? Does that seem right? I split a 4 pack with a friend. So, 32 oz split in to two servings for $10 seemed ok. Yes, still expensive.

Whoops, misread. Thought this was in reference to NvUvH. I love Mosaic Ninja, and definitely worth the price. Especially compared to the same ounces in bombers.

NvUvH I wouldn't pay the price for again ($17, I believe). I much preferred regular NvU to it.

Interesting, for me I preferred NvUvH over VoL and SoS as far as their hazies go, granted someone pointed out that the SoS I had was ~6 weeks old.

I'll probably end up picking up the mosaic anyways just was eye opening when I saw the $20 price tag.

No. I'm a big mosaic fan but just like the citra ninja cans I found it very malty with the hop kind of drowned out. A very copper color beer visually. Love Pipeworks but the ninja series cans (so far) have been a rare miss. I was at Trader Joe's last night where you can buy singles of any beer so I wasn't $20 in like I was with citra ninja. I did hedge my $5 ninja bet by picking up a couple singles of some fresh Lizard King which were right next to it.

Yeah, I'm just not the biggest fan of their hazies in general. I mean, they are fine, but I don't seek them out.

Their Ninja series have always leaned more toward the malty side. They definitely tweaked NvU when they first started canning it (and for the better imo). I missed out on Citra cans, but Mosaic is exactly as I remember. I really enjoy it. That said, if they tweaked the malt base for these, they same way they did with NvU for cans, I wouldn't complain one bit.

That was definitely my learning curve. I very rarely ever buy IPAs in 22oz bottles so these were my first experiences with the ninja series. Love PW but this series is definitely towards the far side of the malt spectrum for me. If you like a malt forward beer this series is definitely for you. Not sure why the price is significantly higher than their other hoppy offerings though.

Back in the day, 3 years ago before the recent haze craze, the ninja beer were though of as hop bombs.
