Any other Von Trapp fans out there? They have switched a bunch of their beers from 12 oz bottles to cans for 2019. Just picked up a 6-pack of Helles cans and they are tasting great, even better than I remembered.

Has anyone tried the canned Weissbier yet? I was really underwhelmed by the bottles I had last year but I'm curious if anyone has noticed a difference this year.

Wow, that's really weird, they offer Weissbier in winter, although I guess it carries over into spring, but most people think of weissbier as a summer beer.

I should also note, weissbier is year-round in Germany and Austria.

Great beers. World class brewery. Love their core offerings, especially the helles, dunkel, and vienna. Three of the best beers have had.

When I want some lager love, that's where I head. Great food, too.

Just finished off my helles six pack. One of my favorites. Dunkel cans should be rolling into NJ soon according to beer store guy. I always look forward to their bock most of all though.

Bought a 12-pack of Vienna Lager cans on Friday - drinking terrific.

Appreciate the move into 12-packs cans from one of my favorite breweries.

It is odd timing for weissbier as a seasonal. Although, Victory releases Winter Cheers for the holidays and it works. Bock Bier seems like a better fit for the Jan-Mar seasonal, but no complaints either way.

They've had the Vienna lager in 12 oz 12pk cans for a little bit now. Bought a bunch for my wedding in late 2017. And bottles of the bohemian Pilsner. Love their beers

    Reasons I like Von Trapp:
1)They do not put a lot of adjuncts and other stuff into there beers
    2) The beers are never harsh and require resting before they can be enjoyed
    3) Reasonable prices
    4) Easy to find
5 )Do not need to drive far to get their beers
    6) Do not go bad within weeks of purchasing
    7) Consistently good
    8) Lots of flavor and subtlety.
    9) Great variety pack

    10) when they went to cans they kept 12 oz (other than the special few: bock, hoppy marzen, etc) and didn’t do 16 oz like almost everyone one else.

Great beers, not too expensive, accessible and usually fresh.
I hope they produce some other styles in the near future.

Would like to see them attempt a Rauchbier at some point.

Trosten (which is a great beer) is slightly smoky but isn't a Rauch my opinion.

How about a Schwarzbier, or a Kellerbier.

Trosten is basically their Schwarzbier and is delicious. They've had that one for a while. I remember going to Trapp Family Lodge and drinking that seasonal on draft.

Does their unfiltered Helles (Natur Helles) more or less count as a kellerbier?

I think they're different, Kellerbiers could be based on a Helles but with yeast added during packaging. Different sites have conflicting info on this topic.

As @Takeanotherswing said, and I agree, I find their Trosten to basically be a Schwarzbier. Although one that isn't slightly smoky and is lower alcohol would be cool.

And as you said, Kellerbier is kind of funny. It's not really a style exactly, but it would also be cool to see them do a Kellerbier series like Jack's Abby does.
