I know infinite wishes is cheap and all, but it is barrel aged haha.

Mocha Machine from Beachwood is technically a porter but that's always great fresh.

I'm confused at why a dude who just got into craft beer recently is the arbiter of REAL beer fanatics.

Seeing all of these responses without any context is making me wonder if everyone I've ever blocked on BA has somehow congregated in this one thread.

I remember they announced details like Feb 14-ish and i believe the actual event was within the first two weeks of March ... maybe not happening this year?

Hello, Im traveling to LA this June. I'm planning a trip to monkish and have some questions. I will be with family and my 1 year old son, so not looking to wait in line. Can you please answer a few questions for me; it would be much appreciated:

    1. Possible to get cans without waiting in line? ever any leftovers?
    2. Possible to fill growlers of IPA on any given day?
    3. Is there ever a low key time to visit the taproom?
    4. Is it even worth going if you cant wait in line? Would you recommend other LA spots that may be less crowded?
    5. I'm also eyeing some other places: HIghland Park, Mumford, Mikeller DTLA, Modern Times Dojo. Which would you say is the "next best thing" to that monkish haze in LA

    Thank you

I'll let somebody else answer the other questions, but definitely check out Highland Park Brewery (fantastic hazies but they also make a ton of killer pilsners, saisons, sours and stouts) and Modern Times.

I'd put Mumford slightly below those two.

And if you're at MT, you might as well check out Mikkeller if you're interested since it's about two blocks away. They're a bit too pricey for me (except they have $15 flights for any beer on Mondays and Tuesdays) but they usually have something great on tap. They had Cantillon Fou Foune on tap this weekend. Also Birdie's next door makes a killer chicken sandwich.

    1. If you follow their twitter on release days they update the line situation. For example last week I was able to get cans with zero wait time. There has been a left over but that happened for the first time last week as well.
    2. There is always an IPA growler fill option, I'd check their website as they list which are available to go.
    3. Depends but earlier in the week on non can release days seem to be the best for that
    4. Smog City is around the corner, worth checking out if you are down there already.

Agree with what @ J-loco says. If I may add a caveat to his post it would be that Friday is probably the best day for visitors to visit Monkish IMO for a couple reasons. They open early on Friday's, 1pm and sometimes earlier if there is a can release, for some reason Friday can releases have become extremely mellow with no to very short lines. Friday is also a good day for Monkish to release new IPA/DIPAs for growler fills for the upcoming weekend.

    Cheers,
