I will never agree that American is better on a burger. You're all insane

I just don't like dry burgers ... and whether that means juicy, greasy, or both, sign me up. I'm good at using napkins. Corridor's burger is great despite using the most boring of cheeses on it.

I have converted a lot of people to this way of thinking (American > Cheddar on a burger)...someone on this thread is probably next. Hell, I don't hold Au Cheval up as the best burger in the city, but I think there's a reason they throw the 'ol orange plastic on it.

With that being said, I think unmelted cheddar is actually better than melted on a quite a few things, burgers and chicken biscuits (another thing I like to consider myself an aficionado of) among them.
Yeah, I'm the same. If I'm actively trying to kill myself via bad food decisions, I go all-in. And in the case of places like Corridor, Forbidden Root, etc., if I can also get a real solid deal with them (the typical $15 burger/beer/bourbon deal), then I'm even less picky.

cherry picking one of the highest rated and sought after burgers in the country to support your foolishness, yet also making sure to let everyone know it ain't even all that to boot.

mr bond, truly a champion for the pedestrian snobs to aspire to

I understand there are some aesthetic benefits to it, but what matters most to me is how it tastes.
Whenever this comes up I feel like the "that's not how this works, that's not how any of this works" lady.

I'm not arguing aesthetics, I'm saying that American melts better than cheddar, and melds with the burger more effectively! On the other hand, I'm a big fan of cheddar in general, so I guess I shouldn't be arguing with cheddar fans since we're mostly on the same team.

Still want American on my Corridor burger, though. One day.

It's a great burger, I just was trying to head off the "please, Au Cheval ain't shit!" comments. I'd be happy to make a list of all the awesome burgers with American in it, but it'd basically just be a list of all the best (standard) burgers.

edit: should've gone with "Au please, Au Cheval..."

Now that this has taken this thread to an interesting turn, is it blasphemy if I say that muenster cheese on a burger (if seasoned properly to compliment the cheese) is great?

I can see muenster working really well, honestly.

Middle Brow thread has been corrupted by pizza talk.
Corridor thread has been corrupted by burger talk.
Anyone want to jump in the FR thread and discuss pork schnitzels?

FR's burger would be better with American

(kidding, don't think it would go with the giardiniera)

Can we get a wider bun for more support? I kid, I will not open that up for discussion.

Okay I'm on board with you on this one. The schnitzel is like 6x as large as the bun, that's at least 3x too much.

you're literally talking about a whole sourdough sized loaf for that monster of a schnitzel though, don't think i've ever seen a bun approach that size in any establishment

Oh, I know exactly what I'm asking for!

Back on topic, I was unable to pass on having the Smiling Shadows variants for the 3rd time; is the base stout relatively sweet as well?

People are talking about it on pretty much every thread BUT the Corridor thread, so I'll post here that Eric left Corridor to head over to More. This is a bummer for me as they've lost 2 great brewers within a year or so, but I sure hope @dubo09 can get someone from their talent pool again like they did with Eric, or find someone else to fill his shoes.

It's a bummer. Eric's stouts lately have been killer. Poor Corridor

:slight_frown: ugh, people flocking from the city left and right!

On that note though, at Maplewood, having a Moonfruit. It is a 100% Roger beer. Maybe the first I’ve had since he joined that tastes/looks/feels exactly like the Corridor favorites we’ve come to love.

Hey guys! We wish Eric nothing but the best. We have Patrick taking over brewhouse duties. Patrick has been part of the brewery over a year and cellerman/brewer for the last year. He has had a hand in all our brews since last July. I have all the confidence in the world that he is a special brewer, and am looking forward to you enjoying his brews. As always we appreciate all your support through the years and know that the future is bright for Corridor. We will not let you down.
