Maybe? The site says less than 12 cases remain, so if 140 people go for Samuel tomorrow...

3-5 inches of snow tonight with potentially more during the day.

The mules stunted hard AF at Hill Farmstead today! Color me impressed!

Damn, though, I feel like I missed out. I definitely chose the wrong time of year to retire my NEK Econoline shuttle service...That caravan of mules from Hardwick could have covered my one year loss on Bitcoin in just two runs!

I wonder how many "original owners" are actually going to end up drinking the bottle(s) they acquired, given the high trade value and even higher secondary values on these bottles?

At the moment, a bottle of Samuel seems to be the perfect trade bait for any ISO bottle of mid-tier whale-y lambic, BA stout, or respectable bourbon in the game, while for others, the day has turned into the biggest payday for a single bottle flip on any Hill Farmstead run ever.

Over the years, the beer game has made Greensboro seem far less a part of the Northeast Kingdom than I care to admit. I hope that things find a way of correcting themselves before the area begins to adopt the ways of the white/blue/orange/yellow plates that fill their parking lot.

You did. They had Westly bottles and it was on draft.

In the spirit of the Oscars this weekend and after your nomination last year for Best Thread for "Bait and Switch" you drop these two best post and supporting post back to back. You're the hero we don't deserve.

Is this the reductio ad absurdum of NIMBYism? - projecting your lamentation of change not onto your neighborhood but a distant place that you buy beer?

We're on some galaxy-brain shit here folks

The NEK needs as many white/blue/orange/yellow plates filling their parking lots as possible. Hopefully those visitors are enjoying themselves and injecting a bit of money into the local economy.

Towing 2WD white/blue/orange/yellow plates from Taylor Rd is really stimulating the local economy

It is if you are a tow truck driver. I've also been up there 5 to 10 times this winter and haven't viewed anyone getting towed, not sure how widespread that issue is.

It ain't the origin of the plates to fuss over. It's the attitude of the occupants within. Opportunists come from everywhere...

I went up to buy Samuel to drink. I haven’t been in the Hill game long enough to drink a “whale” fresh. Now it appears I have. I wish I could have gotten more but 1pp is a bitch. I will try to trade for more and likely fail, but that’s part of the fun.

Some of those assholes who lined up Wednesday aren’t so bad and just want a fresh saison.

    Well that's a little agressive

What makes them assholes for showing up on the first day of a hyped release?

Just curious so I can avoid being an asshole next time I go up

I was one of those assholes. I was there early on a Wednesday Hill release, which is borderline blasphemy these days.

I wanted this beer. I had a time crunch and had to get in and get out. I apologize to the old money folks. I am truly remorseful.

You have a great product, obviously. I brought my yellow NJ plates up there a week ago (rear wheel drive... 93 BMW 325... jeez man you guys in your Subarus drive in an inch of snow like it's the Autobahn; glad my snow tires worked well enough) and my buddy got some Samuel this week to bring back. We're gonna drink it all...not for the beer trade game, we just like your beer. Gotta expect some outsiders when you put out the best.

I did not get in under the wire for Samuel. I'd have gone up today if it lasted, but it didn't. I really don't have an option to get up there before 5 on a weekday on short notice. But I know my white plate does pump money into the NEK everytime I do go up. Between Hill, Willey's, a bite to eat at a local spot, and a tank full of gas for the trip home I usually spend close to 500 dollars per trip up there, and sometimes more. And I usually go with 2 or 3 people who do the same.

At 1 pp, I would have drank the bottle. Any release I drink the bottle fresh and I try what the brewer intended to put out. If I get multiple and really like it, I will hold onto my full allotment, and even try to acquire more. If I do not, I will try and trade it $4$ retail for a bottle I could not make the trip up for. Most HFS I end up loving and keeping and trying to acquire more. Some, Like GBA Brother Soigne, well I have one if anyone wants to trade (to much juniper for me). Flora's are my favorite, you couldn't get one off of me even for a Samuel, not that anyone would try to. To each their own. I don't begrudge anyone for doing their thing. No Samuel, no problem, I will still be drinking top notch beer.

Weird post. If you didn’t call us assholes, I’d understand your point more.

Sorry we have brains and recognize when we should go to get a hyped bottle that works with our schedule...

Then you decide to apologize, yet double down on “old money folks”? Odd poster.

You shouldn’t feel that the opinion mentioned above is representative of most that live in the area. Especially businesses owners that reap the benefits of craft beer tourism. I’m about 45 minutes from HF and I know that the gas station closest to my house gets a boost (as well as stocks good beer!).

Poorly executed sarcasm on my part.

I got tired of having to defend myself for having the audacity to be a new fan of Hill and showing up early on the Wednesday of a big release, which is what my schedule allows.

This was a very bizarre week in the craft beer world.
