    Rare thread start for me! Up early for no other reason than a restless mind, with no work on the horizon, and a breakfast of bacon and eggs and OJ behind me...

    Checking out Drake Brewing's Mictlan imperial porter...

    Named after the Aztec underworld, and inspired by Mexican champurrado, this 10.8% abv beer features lactose, cinnamon, orange peel, star anise, and cocoa nibs, and is bourbon barrel aged... Not quite a typical "Mexican stout," as it features no peppers, this beer sets itself apart as a delicious combination of flavors in one of the smoothest and creamiest-feeling porters I've ever had... The specialty ingredients meld seamlessly into one another's flavors and aromas, creating an incredible dessert beer drinking experience... chocolaty, but nuanced with fruit and spice, like sweet orange and licorice, and gracefully barrel-aged, not to overwhelm, but to complement... A rare treat, recommended if you come across it...

    8.4% abv Galaxy and Simcoe cryo hop beer... Real juicy, with ample impressions of orange and grapefruit, more sweet than bitter, but not too tangy... Fruit smoothie-soft and smooth - a real plush body leaves a light shellac of fruit leather resin and faint pine behind... Superior beer, keeps a dangerously-close-to-played-out NEIPA style fresh and interesting...

    Tried the portable record player in the basement to prep for tomorrow's theme, still having issues where it sounds half regular speed/half slow. Definitely not the way to listen to Geddy Lee's singing. Listening to a band I've gotten into recently instead.

    I keep getting Facebook ads encouraging me to join a class action suit over Asahi. Is the French version brewed in Japan, North America or elsewhere?

    Good question. Brewed and bottled in Italy after reading the label. Don’t ask me why... I genuinely have no idea but it’s cheap here anyway (1,50€ for this one)
