tavern cut is just as good as i remember. maybe even better. its a gorgeous color, literally juice. mouthfeel and taste are everything i want.

aside from the very first batch of galaxy bowl which has a ton of nostalgia attached to it...best beer Hop Butcher has put out.

The guy at Capones said there were people there just as the delivery was being made, he thinks they are following around the truck. They also sold all 24 tekus in under 30 mins. Like, what are these people doing, driving around all day following the truck so they can flip $17 four packs on facebook for $40? This has gotten ridiculous.

People are chasing trucks for this shit? It's great beer, but seriously, come the fuck on.

Every time I get a little hopeful about the Chicago beer scene (all the great BA shelf turds, the increasing number of good hazy or non-hazy IPAs around, etc.), some silly b.s. like this comes around.

I totally get it, this is their best beer and only a small minority of craft fans tried it the first go around. The majority of people active in the NEIPA thread seem to manage to run over to Corridor for the can releases in a two hour window, why is truck chasing that much different than camping in line? We should just call it dynamic line camping.

Because it's going to multiple locations versus one location?

Going to multiple locations takes the same time as going through the line multiple times at one location....

If they're following the truck to one location and picking up a 4-pack, I think that's still kind of a waste of time, but not one I'd take issue with. Generally in my mind, "truck-chasing" implies that you're following it to multiple stops, which I think is pretty shitty. But I'm also the guy that gets irritated when people double-dip (depending on the circumstance), so I'm pretty consistently disappointed by beer nerd behavior.

I'm also mostly okay with people visiting a couple shops after they've announced they got a beer in (in the same way that I'm okay with someone coming back to a Binny's later on in a day or the next day and picking up more BCBS); as long as you're still giving others a chance to pick up the beer. Truck-chasing basically means that you're the first one picking up the beer, and the more locations you go to, the lamer that is.

I was told that during the Neon Green Relish release someone came into Binny's LP and bought an entire case in the moment between it going up on the shelf and them running back to grab the "limit 1" sign to put in front of it. I think these shenanigans have been happening for a while.

Don't people have better things to do on a Tuesday afternoon than practice their CIA tradecraft on a beer delivery van? Lines form for official releases. Idk, this feels different.

Chasing a truck to grab multiples of something limited is one thing (I haven’t and likely won’t ever), but chasing to create scarcity and create a secondary market is another thing altogether. I know there are people who “value their time”, but come on, people.

I just don't think it's the same thing. Even if I just agree on your premise it takes the same time - there's other things than just time involved. It's still multiple locations. It's retail establishments versus a brewery (generally). Driving all around the city, following one guy in a truck.

I'm not necessarily even saying it's wrong, but I do think it's different.
