    Sierra Nevada otra vez
    ..cloudy orange gold body
..medium carbonation with a very light body
    ..aroma is citrus/lemon/lime,light malt
...taste is lime/lemon,mildly tart with it having just a touch of sweetness. The salt added is just right and kind of brings it all together
...overall it was very light and refreshing, would make a great post mowing the lawn beer. As a dead of winter beer it was okay[IMG]

First new beer of the day is courtesy of @cjgiant. Master of Karate from Aslin. Sharing this one with my daughter. Pours a cloudy dark orange with a half inch off white head that leaves nice lacing. Smells of citrus and tropical fruits along with some pine, floral and herbal notes. Tastes of pink grapefruit, grapefruit rind, mango, peach, melon, resin, floral and herbal notes. Slightly on the sweet side with a little malt presence. Medium bodied, lightly carbonated (a bit under carbonated IMO), light to moderate bitterness to balance out the sweetness, mildly dry finish.

Happy Sunday, NBS crew! Briefly contemplated not drinking today given last night’s debauchery (and later bedtime for me...I rarely make it past 10pm these days)...but then I saw this in my fridge and said “Fuck It”. Thanks @Bum4ever !

    Synopsis:
Under the date code there is a stamp that says “JUICYYYYYY”. Yes, 6 Y’s and all caps. I feel this is warranted though in this case. Very much a tangerine hop juice, but with noticeable bitterness so you’re aware its a beer. This is a beer the 13 year olds I teach would probably enjoy too, since it tastes so much like juice. Not that I condone that. Just saying, they are drinking whatever they get their hands on. Thanks again Josh for all these amazing Moonraker brews!

Of the 3 you’ve had so far, I’ve only heard of 1 of the breweries...and 0 of the beers. You are drinking stuff none of us (besides perhaps @cjgiant ) has had. This is why you should join the BIF :grimacing:

Another New Beer Sunday. My wife and I are in Florida visiting family, and for the past couple days have been with my in-laws in Placida. We've toured the area, I've played golf with my father-in-law, and later today we'll be taking an evening cruise. I've been drinking a fair amount of Cigar City beers, and my new beer for today is Invasion. It is described as follows: "With tropical notes of mango and tangerine imparted by Simcoe and Mosaic hops, this crisp and sessionable Pale Ale is a perfect companion for long days of marauding, pillaging, and pirating." and that is exactly what you get. The beer is a bright gold color with a persistent white head and some lacing. Aroma of citrus and tropical fruit. Mango, tangerine, and grapefruit taste. Light-bodied, enjoyable on this 80 degree day.

[IMG] Poured into a 16 oz Nordic pint glass, canned 2/7/19. Pours a very hazy orange like a glass of oj with a 2 finger sticky white head that leaves a wall of lace as it slowly settles. 4.5

Smell tangerine, pineapple, passionfruit, hints of vanilla, and just a little breath of grapefruit rind. 4.25

Taste follows tangerine is dominant and that is not a bad thing at all, pineapple, vanilla, passionfruit, and just the smallest amount of grapefruit bitterness. 4.25

Mouthfeel is bigger than medium, soft gentle carbonation but not even close to flat, not dry at all, and at 6% ABV goes down very easy, but drinks a tad bigger in flavor. 4.5

Overall this is just a tasty NEIPA with a little lactose, that I feel adds to the awesome feel and gives it that little hint of vanilla. Well done watch out this brewery they are flying under the radar. 4.25

Southern tier imperial cinnamon roll ale
    ...pours a cloudy brownish red
... medium carbonation with around a medium body
...aroma is cinnamon forward followed by malt, yeasty /bread/pastry
..taste is definitely a cinnamon roll with the cinnamon being in the lead. Its sweet and malty but I didnt find it to be over the top. The doughy pastry does show up and really gives it that cinnamon roll flavor
..overall it's an Interesting beer, delivers all the flavors expected with the high abv being well hidden.its worth a try but not the type of beer you could do a few in a row.
Did go well with homemade cinnamon rolls[IMG]

Good morning, NBS crew! I'm enjoying a post-run reward of creamy, smooth coffee and chocolate:

Modern Times Black House Nitro with coffee, coconut, and cocoa

The appearance is underwhelming for a nitro brew; this sixteen ounce can, completely upturned, only produced peak foam as pictured.

The aroma, however, is surprisingly strong for a nitro beer, really giving a nice representation of everything going on: plenty of coffee, and milder notes of coconut and chocolate, along with caramel and cream. Most of that translates to the palate quite well, with the coconut coming across very mildly, riding along with a slight metallic note, but otherwise a fantastic representation of sumatra coffee, chocolate, and caramel.

The feel on the palate is no surprise, with the nitro treatment giving it far more body than a beer this low in ABV can normally manage.

I'm surprisingly above rDev here. This is one of the smoothest coffee beers I've had in a long time.

Second new beer of the day is courtesy of @vabeerguy. Alone Alone (which is what I am now) from The Veil. Pours a cloudy yellow-orange with a fluffy one inch white head that left lacing all the way down the glass. Smells dank, citrus and tropical elements. Tastes of orange, orange rind, peach, pineapple and passion fruit. A bit on the sweet side with little malt present. Medium bodied and carbonated, creamy mouth feel with a mildly dry finish.

I assume the extremely high ratings are fanboy-influenced. This is a decent ipa, but not even close to one of OH’s best. A bit muddled, with floral hops clashing with citrus and earth. About what you’d expect from a collab. Still, a fun beer to try. Thanks again Charles!

    Hey what's going on?!

When does it ever stop raining here? We're becoming the new Seattle or something down these parts.

Well I don't have much interesting news, but enjoying the weekend. Guess I am getting my own personal Oscar party on and getting my inner critic hat on and telling everyone they're all wrong and don't know nuffin... sounds about right, that an a big tub of sour cream and onion dip to go with it.

So with that out of the way though, I did manage to find some new beers. Fridge lately been understacked, and boy it got stacked lately. I saw @woodychandler 's post and I ironically have a lot of Eastern Europe and Russian beers after visiting a specialty store that had lots of good foodie products from that area. Didn't buy any Kvass though, but found many other odds brews from that area even if they are made by the main players (like InBev). Maybe we shall see some today!?

With that ONWARD! What is new for our hero today?

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Canned February 11th 2019.

A muddy nearly turbid, but swampy brown looking body color that is not really giving the eye candy here. Head creation is a good soapy mix with some retention, just eeking out about three fingers with a bright white color. Lots of big bubbled lacing as well which is interesting to say the least.

Hop forward but not really juicy sensing. Much more of a big baby aspirin quality. Sense of dry chalk, with only a touch of pineapple like dry hops coming out faintly.

Palate makes some better improvements. Just a hair of light body to this on the mouthfeel, flirting with an almost wet session like feel. Surprisingly unexpected hop flavor than the nose would indicate. Good amounts of bitterness with a much more fruitier flavor, ranging from pineapple to an almost Hawaiian fruit punch, and mixing of green herbs. A lot of that herbality rolls out on the aftertaste, with hints of spicy mint and black pepper.

A pretty odd and very unique IPA, but the style is sort of all over the place and a bit jarring to my senses. It's still at least a drinkable IPA in a very crowded field.

    look: 3 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75 | BA Generated Score : 3.65

    Cheers!

[IMG] Poured into a 16 oz Nordic pint glass canned on 1/30/19. Pours an attractive cloudy yellow with a solid 2 plus finger sticky white head that leaves very attractive thin webs of lace as it slowly settles. 4

Smell is guava, mellon, pineapple, and some grapefruit rind. 3.75

Taste follows guava, pineapple, mellon, mango, and a little grapefruit bitterness. 3.75

Mouthfeel is about medium, a tad sticky, but not really dry, fairly gentle carbonation but missing that soft feel, and at 6.2% ABV goes down easy. 4

Overall this is a $10 six pack and it is nice enough, but it still confuses me why these massive breweries are struggling to get a handle on the NEIPA. Really not a bad effort, but I still expect one of them to nail it soon. 3.75

New Beer Sunday: Fruit and Field Beer

Afternoon, NBSers with an alert for fans of fruited beers.

This afternoon’s new beer is the Bumble Berry Honey Blueberry Ale from Fat Heads.

As usual, my review, subject to revision until the beer is finished can be found here:

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/19544/51389/?ba=drtth#review

The aromas/flavors are mostly about the blueberry which is backed up by some bready malt. The honey adds more sweetness than I’d expect from the just the berries and the malt. The finish is semi-dry and tinged with fruitiness and there’s just a touch of light spicy, peppery and herbal character in the long ending in the back of the throat. While I enjoyed trying this beer I’ll be taking a pass in the future since I prefer my fruit beers with some tartness.

    Cheers, all!

Good morning everybody, Once again 2 new beers Vermont IPA 7.2% ABV. and English Strong Ale 12.5 % ABV both Yale Terrace Brewing in Cranford NJ. Yale Terrace has been open for over a year. Hadn't gone before yesterday because it's been getting bad write ups since day one. Now I know 1st hand why. The IPA was murky not hazy with no head to speak of. It also lacked aroma and taste. Bland would be what to call it. It was also watery. The Strong English Ale looked just about the same. In fact it struck me as being just about the same beer. These beers didn't taste bad they just did not taste much at. It's an impressive feat of brewing to make a flavorless 12.% Abv beer. Doubt I'll be going back.

Smell is passionfruit, lemongrass, bubblegum, and pine resin. 3.5

Taste follows odd mango, lemon, passionfruit, and pine. 3.5

Mouthfeel is light and crisp less than medium, a tad dry, plenty of carbonation, and goes down very easy and you would never know it is 7% ABV. 3.75

    Fair State - Du Pounde

The name of this beer is obviously making a play on words in order to reference Dupont. I think they are making a joke about this 16oz can being "one pound," but I really have no idea how it all makes much sense.

This 5.3% ABV beer is brewed with malted wheat, French saison yeast (that's usually code for Thiriez), and Centennial hops.

I'm pleasantly surprised by this beer. It feels very old-world despite the Centennial. It feels like a saison to me. It's a hazy darkish yellow. Great head. Soft carbonation and medium feel. Dry. The "Belgian" yeast character is there (yeah, wrong country of origin, but I don't mean it that way). It's a nice combination of bright fruits, banana, and big spicy earthiness. Not subtle, but still very well done in my eyes (the reviews here feel lukewarm). This would be a great choice as a 4 pack purchase if the price is right, but I have the feeling that it won't be something that I'll see consistently on the shelves in such a format (probably not even close).
