Says the guy that secured 2 6-packs without even needing to go to the brewery.

Don’t worry, in 2-3 years, BA FIS will be turding it up right next to KBS. There will be dozens of options that are better and less expensive.

Less expensive than $15 for a barrel aged stout six-pack? Call me sceptical on that one, boss.

Didn’t you the winky face? That is just what people will be posting here when the hype wears off.

Hahaha... my bad. Definitely didn’t see a winky face. Carry on. I’ll see myself out.

I might have driven two hours each way to the Detroit taproom for a carry out, pours and chow if the limit was a few six packs. Not worth the chance to return empty handed with the high limit caused chance to distribute to less than the first 100 in line.

Yes, because I had a meeting from 11:00am until 12:30pm and thought ahead to ask a good friend to pick a reasonable amount up for me. Sorry you don't have good friends like this.

I would have been there at 10:45am otherwise.

As I said, it's only beer, no need to get upset.

I have terrific friends, thank you very much. We share great beers often.

I find the vitriol voiced towards Founders in this thread humorous and sad. Funny that anyone that got the beer would say to others, hey relax it’s only beer.

I was not interested in acquiring this beer by any means so I am not upset at all. Far from it in fact.

    My worthless ranking.
    BAE
    BAIS
    Black Note
    BBPt5
    KBS

I may have put BAIS in front of Black Note due to my brain trying to rationalize why it just stood in a cold driving rain for almost 2 hours. It has to be that good if I just did something that stupid. Black Note was a nice leisurely drive to Kalamazoo.

Utterly baffling to me. We've seen so many bottle releases over the last several years where people walk away empty handed. Why is it so damn difficult for breweries to say they reserve the right to adjust allotments based on the number of people standing in line at the time the sale begins?

If you have 500 cases and 200 people standing in line, then set a limit at 2 cases. At least everyone who made the effort to be there to purchase your beer will walk away with some.

Not related to the BA Imperial debacle, but did any of y'all have the Backwoods "Deep Cut" at Cellar Raid? 5 years in a bourbon barrel did some wonderful things to that beer.

So, now it looks like the KBS Release Party is back on again. Saturday, March 9th. Scott Kirkland's Crystal Method will be performing, no cover charge.

Never been to release party, and always seem to be able to find KBS relatively easy in Indiana, but do you have to have tickets to buy KBS that day? They say something about ticket holders can pick up KBS after 8 PM at the company store. But I don't see anywhere to buy tickets?

I happen to be in GR that weekend so might as well buy a couple 4 packs while I'm there!

My question is who makes the decision on the allocations? For the amount of KBS this year three 4 packs is ridiculous when you could probably have a 100 case allocation and meet all the demand and then some.

For the record my local distributor (Milwaukee) is getting 7000 cases.

Wait, let me make sure I got this right.

Panther Cub = 10 case limit
BA Imperial Stout = 5 case limit
KBS = three 4 pack limit and a ticketed event

    :rolling_eyes::rofl:

I know that in Detroit, 750ml bottles will be available, but not 12oz bottles.

That makes so much sense. I am sure there are many breweries clamoring to get under the $15/six pack price point. Nice try though.

Maybe it's going to be this year. Where are all of the comments about the excitement of finding this beer and buying your limit? :astonished:

I was absently-mindedly thinking the release date was going to be this coming weeekend (16th) and was surprised when my two stores that I frequent posted on facebook last Saturday that KBS was available. The pricing is lower than last year, so Founders must have brewed an excessive amount of it to drive the price down, or they're listening to the cost complaints. One of my places was advertising $16.99 + tax/dep. but I went to the other where there was stepped pricing starting at $23.99 and dropping a couple bucks with each 4-pack purchased up to four of them. The beer was sitting on a pallet on the floor and no one was standing in line.

FYI, the taste is great as always, except that the alcohol (12.2% this year) is more noticeable than any I've had in the past.
