A local brewery has posted the following set of rules. I think they are more than fair. What do you think?
address that so stay tuned. Cheers!

*** Just to add some clarity to the family friendly hours, this refers to staying and hanging out for an extended period of time. Growler fill it can pickup stops with the kids at any time are ok.

It's their business, so it's their rules, the market will decide if they're good rules. What they have seems fair enough to me.

I mean, most of that SHOULD (I know, I know) be common courtesy from patrons.

I have no inherent problem with places that allow you to reserve space/a room for private parties or events, but also no issue with a brewery not wanting to allow that. And I do think having specific family-friendly hours is a great idea -- covers the brewery on having to hear complaints from parents about noise/people swearing whatever, and gives parents a dedicated time where they know things should be a little more relaxed.

"Food is limited to snacks and personal meals?" I'm confused by this. Is a large pizza OK?

I have no actual problem with any of these "Commandments" on their own but seeing them all listed out like this together makes the owners appear really uptight. I can't imagine the rules they must have on their employees. Geez, relax.

Thoughts on #2 - Most of the breweries near me allow the gluten free folks to bring cider. Otherwise agree.

Is this list really necessary? I'm assuming they've had problems.

I think what they're referring to are those people who come in with multiple trays of food and treat their table as a source of food (home base) for their friends, with 8, 9, even 12 people buzzing around. I've seen this happen. There's no one sitting at the table, they're all standing around in different spots talking, but they're taking up an entire table that other people could be using just to house their food.

I love #'s 3 and 4. I'm totally fine with having kids in the brewery up until 6 pm, any day and especially on weekends, but not after that AND I hate when children are just allowed to run around - it's not Chuck E. Cheese's!

Also NJ state law - only service animals are allowed.

Are you sure about that ? I remember this being discussed but being over turned. I've met many Pups in NJ breweries over the years.

I believe it is ("Non-service dogs are prohibited by NJAC 8:29 in any facility that manufactures either food or beverage including bars and restaurants") but there is a bill to change that. I'm not sure where that stands.

I agree. They certainly could express the same thoughts stated in a less confrontational tone. Like "Sorry, pets and outside alcohol are not permitted.. It's a state law. Service animals are allowed"

Starting everything with a big bold NO makes very reasonable rules sound much less reasonable.

My mom ran retail stores my whole childhood and she would always point out signs with big NOs at other stores and explain how off putting that kind of language is to customers. As reasonable as these rules all are (common sense really, makes me think this town is full of ass hats) the phrasing of them is very off putting and my gut reaction is that I don't want to go to this establishment now.

At least half of these are just state law. The rest seem reasonable enough, although I agree with the poster above who said that putting them all together like this does come across pretty uptight.
