No, they're all "emotional support animals"
and that's bulls#17 that you can print out a form online when there are people with legitmate needs for them.

There should be one minor change, "all children should be on a leash." Sorry, I'm jaded due to an experience working at a small brewery where small children were allowed to run free.

Their business, the can do what they want, but....yeah, rephrasing some of it would be friendlier. I've always been told that "No", when dealing with customers, should be avoided if at all possible.

There's a brewery here that will assign you a friend or 3, in that case. Really. :grinning:

One brewery here , The North , has a strict rule about dogs : "All dogs go to The North."
The one closest to me has a lot of room outside, so the general (unwritten) rule seems to be that dogs are fine , outside. I have seen the occasional one brought in for a brief meet & greet , while waiting for cans, during a can release. They had a owner/pet Halloween costume contest.
Banning hipsters would put a slight crimp in sales, so that's not happening. Really, I don't run into that many, and don't actually care.*shrug* . I run into more at my work, usually wannabe urban farmers. They're OK.

Kids? I've never seen a problem with kids. I've seen LOTS of kids at the place up the road, when they have events, and an occasional one otherwise.

Outside food? Two of the local breweries have restaurants, so , of course , not there. When one was being renovated, they did let people know it was OK to bring food. The aforementioned one nearest me has one or another food truck, and when nobody will be there, the let people know, & its OK to bring your own. The other three local breweries.....??? I've only seen bar snacks, and they're out of the way for me, so not enough info.

As for outside beverages, there have been bottle share/can release "parties". Cider, wine, and soda , for sale is a normal thing, so outside alcohol shouldn't be an issue. The ones available qualify under NY's farm winery & farm brewery laws, as do the breweries. Don't know if that is the reason, or just because they're local(ish). I'd guess having the other beverages makes sense, so as to satisfy non-beer-drinking Significant Others, & make it more likely that the beer-drinker will stop in?

I have no problem with the rules.
When I did work at a small brewery dogs and kids not accompanied by parents were a problem from time to time.

Now I think no dogs allowed. Might b a clause for service animals, but I've yet to see a dog in a few years.

Nothing like a dog tipping over a big garbage can of spent grain.

I'm really hoping the owner of the dog was handed a broom and told to clean it up or get out.

This is on the brewery for not partitioning off the brewing floor from the taproom. The breweries here usually offer window views onto the brewing floor, but you can't go in unless perhaps on a tour.

Agreed. When I bring my 12 year old, it's with the expectation that people are going to be loud and swear. Just like me wife does at home. :stuck_out_tongue:

As far as the rules, I'm fine with them. I rather the expectation be set rather than trying to figure out by going to review of the brewery, reading their web site and finding no info, etc. and not finding the info. Then, you are kind of guessing. That being said, I will always error on the conservative side and not bring my son if I'm unsure, but not all people are that way.

By the way, my son has down syndrome. I have found the beer culture to be very accepting of him and we have met a lot of great people because of him that we would probably would have not met (I'm an anti-social techy by nature). Thanks for all of you who are patient and accepting!

I have no doubt where my kids kids pick up some of their language. My wife works with 200+ truck drivers. Her language would make most of them blush.

Well, the brewing area was partially partitioned off, but the dog got in anyway.

It has been my observation that dog owners are more likely to clean up a spill or trash they dog may have caused, than parents do for messes their kids make.

It's equally irresponsible of the parent or dog owner to have allowed a mess to happen it this first place.

Exactly, if you bring your pet or kids then people need to clean up after themselves. I cannot tell you how many times I see parents and also pet owners leave a mess and act as if they are immune to cleaning it up, and they give a bad name to the rest who actually do clean up. I am open to both pets and kids so long as they are not bothering others.

Huh, to me it seems reasonable and attractive. I mean, they could have said "Leave the fucking rugrats home, this is a GOD DAMN BREWERY" instead of listing family friendly hours. That sign says to me it is my kind of place (if it has good beer that is)

It should say "NO kids allowed. No exceptions" and it's all good.

But dogs should be allowed. I like dogs more than kids.

That would be an awesome sign and I would love them for it. Seriously, they should rewrite the whole sign that way.

But what they have isn't awesome. It sounds like a sign from the DMV or a high school classroom.

Don’t see anything there’s where either State law doesn’t apply, or common sense doesn’t cover. Some places here allow food to be brought in, some are served by food trucks, dogs and children are generally accepted, I have no problems with either.

Even adults accidentally make a mess, except those that are absolutely perfect people and have never spilled anything in their life.
