Happy Saturday, BA! I have the weekend off, and will spend today drinking beer and watching movies. First up is my first bottled beer from Cloudwater, City Orchard. A farmhouse ale fermented in red wine barrels with yeast cultivated from apples. Watching the classic Hot Shots!

Amazing as always. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, nutty coffee, vanilla, cream, caramel, brown sugar, marshmallow, toffee, fudge, bourbon, rye whiskey, coconut, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, raisins, smoke, and herbal/peppery hops. Light roast/char bitterness and bourbon/rye/oak spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is fantastic. Light sticky hops, chalky roast, bourbon/oak tannins, and increasing dryness. Dangerously smooth sipping, mildly warming 12%, minimal barrel booze. Super rich malt complexity and balanced vanilla/coffee flavors; with amazing rye barrel presence/integration. Never overly boozy, tannic, or drying. Not overly roasty or bitter. One of the smoothest BBA beers I have had. Great price as well. Year round shelf beer now. I can still buy 2017, along with 2018 vintages.

I was up all night singing along to this band by myself. Was quite fun.

I poured this last night, took a couple sips, and decided I was done drinking for the day. It does make a rather tasty breakfast beer.

Amazing NEIPA as always. Aromas and flavors of huge tangerine, orange juice, red grapefruit, pineapple, peach, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berry, lemon zest, orange peel, and light pepper/pine hops; with balanced honey, wheat, toasted bread, light caramel malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, floral, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; very creamy, silky, bready malt mouthfeel; light sticky hops and slight resins. Slightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, never astringent. Super smooth/soft, 7%. Used to be Boxer, but some legal crap made them change the name. I slightly prefer it over M43. More malty from the Vienna/Munich malts; and also prefer the hop profile more because of Equinox/Mosaic additions. Old Nation is making the best NEIPAs in the state. Always have all of them in the fridge now.

After an all-time record snowfall last month, I’m staying in this morning (and it’s fourteen below, too) after shoveling for four hours yesterday. I may even break out the Doans pills if I can find ‘em!

Fantastic Baltic porter. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, fudge, bourbon, toasted oak, nuts, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, marshmallow, molasses, licorice, raisin, plums, prune, fig, cherry, berry, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, and herbal hops. Light-moderate herbal/roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy/silky/velvety malts; some sticky hops, chalky char/roast, and oak tannins. Lightly increasing lingering bitter/char/tannin dryness, no acrid/astringency. Very clean lagering, minimal yeasty notes. Minimal warmth of 9.5%, with no barrel booze after the finish. Liked this a bit more than the base beer as expected. Mellowed out on hop bitterness from barrel aging, and much silkier/fuller mouthfeel. Very rich malt complexity, perfect bourbon barrel integration, and solid earthy hops/plums presence. Not overly roasty/charred on malts. Spot on style example.

Happy Saturday ba. Gots a little snow here this morning. Getting into it with Half & Half, imperial milk stout w/coffee, callabo between Barrier/Other Half. Still not feeling it as much as I enjoyed it the first time they released it. Regardless, its pretty decent drinking,

Awesome DIPA. Aromas and flavors of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate honey, cracker, toasted bread, light caramel malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Touch of booze in the aromas as it warms. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, woody, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; balanced creamy/bready malt, sticky hops, and some resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Dangerously smooth, not overly aggressive, mildly increasing warmth of 9.5% after the finish. Feels like Columbus, Citra, Simcoe. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; with a nice bready malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. Very well attenuated for the ABV.
