Yep, I agree with you. Just pointed out for clarity.
Its crazy how many TH Milk Stouts get pumped out and how highly they rate.

I wouldn't. I assume there's a lot of local beer traders here pumping ratings to inflate the value of their beer currency.

That list is nothing but a reflection of the personal tastes of people on this site.

I’d love to see a list of top NE beers where every style has to have representation. That way I may learn of some good bocks, gruits, and English milds etc made in our backyard that I may not be aware of.

Not me. I think Edward deserves a million on a scale of 1-10. It’s proof that you don’t need a high ABV for have a complex, flavorful beer. Sorry this was misconstrued.

I do not pay a lot of attention to the "lists" for reasons mentioned above.

A possible solution would be dividing the N.E. region into Northern New England (ME, VT, NH) and Southern New England (MA, CT, RI).

This would open some room for smaller breweries on these Top 100 lists.

Nah it's kind of like the NCAA basketball tournament: we'd get the 10th place team from the ACC instead of the plucky upstart from a smaller conference. There would manage to be some non-alcoholic sparkling hop water from Tree House on the list before another brewery's flagship beer could make it on.

    Sad but likely true.

Yeah - On 2nd thought you’re right. Lots of ticker idiots running rampant around here. Seemingly as some grow out of it, are replaced by others. But on looking at general alcohol trends, youngsters are headed towards AAL’s & whiskey (& also my empirical evidence from my 20-somethings at my workplace)

The difference between those hop profiles is better described as subtle. Bourbon County Stout and Miller Lite are totally different beers.

The one thing Rate Beer gets right is that they have an overall score, and a style score.

I would love to see a separate list that rates each beer by its style, and then is further rated by how far it is ahead of the average score for that style.

For example under the top rated lists for beer styles:

King Julius is rated as a 4.73 as the number 1 New England IPA. Number 10 is Doubleganger at 4.64. Number 100 is The Other One at 4.45.

Poetica 1 is rated as a 4.5 as the number 1 German Pilsner. Number 10 is Prima Pils at 4.02. And number 100 is Metric at 3.84.

In my opinion Poetica 1 should carry far more weight than King Julius, which isn't all that different than even the 100th beer on its respective style list.
