Howdy to all BAs and weekend participants to this thread...

A gloomy day like this one require Kasteel Donker... oddly, merely two weeks ago we all thought spring had already reached these parts...

For some reason there's a lot of snow when looking out the window, but the sun is shining! Must get some more beer to rate.

Fantastic Russian imperial stout. Amazing lasting head retention and thick soapy lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, dark bread/crust, toasted biscuit, roasted nuts, smoke, charcoal, raisin, fig, date, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, woody, grassy, peppery hop; and roast/charcoal bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and full body; balanced creamy/silky/bready malts, sticky hops, and chalky char/roast in mouthfeel. Lightly increasing hop/char dryness; never acrid or astringent. Super smooth, minimal warming 9.9%. Picked up a 4 pack from 2017 off the shelf last week. Would definitely get more. Nails the style perfectly. Extremely rich and complex malts, with great earthy hop presence/balance against sweetness.

[IMG] Battery Steele is the real deal. Roasty, with a hint spice and vanilla. Cooking breakfast and heading to the slopes. Cheers all.

Red Stripe... a Jamaican beer (AAL). Fairly refreshing and just « okay »... a lighter at 4,7% beer than the one I just had before. I honestly never heard of it before. Any BA tried it already?

Amazing DIPA. Fantastic head retention/thick soapy lacing. Aromas and flavors of huge red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, light peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate honey, cracker, white bread dough malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Slight booze in the aromas as it warms. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts, and sticky hops; some resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing lingering bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Dangerously smooth, not aggressive, mild increasing warmth of 10%. Feels like Simcoe, Citra, Amarillo, and Columbus. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; with a nice balancing bready malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness, very well attenuated for the ABV.

This is my last one of this beer. I really like it! After this beer, I will be preparing for my trip to Brew City, USA, to get a massive beer haul, and finally check out Giannis' new home, the Fiserv Forum. Before the game I will be attending the grand opening of Punch Bowl Social Milwaukee. That place features craft cocktails, so my posts in this forum tonight should be interesting, after I have a few old fashioneds.

This was incredible. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, white grape/wine, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate cracker, white bread dough, light honeyed malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/bready/grainy malt and sticky hops; some resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Insanely smooth, not overly aggressive, minimal warming 9.4%. Amazing mixed profile of 12 different hops. Extremely juicy, vibrant, dank, and earthy balance hop complexity; with a nice bready malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness from crisp resin dryness. They really nailed this for sure. Hope they make another batch soon.

Red Stripe is a classic, at least ice cold on a hot summer day!

Fantastic English porter as usual this year. Flavors of big toasted coconut, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, cream, toffee, dark bread, marshmallow, and light coffee/dark fruits. Light balancing roast bitterness against sweetness; with an amazing creamy/silky/velvety medium-plus body; light touch of sticky spice, chalky roast character, and dryness. Definitely my top favorite coconut beer, but there are others I buy more often. Wish this was year round. I bought a full case worth of 4 packs in 2017. Already got 3 packs so far, but it will be around for a while. Very easy to find this year vs previous ones.

Good morning/afternoon BAs! Supposed to warm up here today and tomorrow, into the eighties. Tomorrow is 5 Stones' Citrus Fest, on the same schedule as the expected thunderstorms. I'm planning on attending and picking up some brewery-only cans for the upcoming NBS BIF. Today's mediocre New Breakfast Beer:

    – Cherry cough syrup-based malt liquor. One and done.
