4 year revisit. This was fantastic. Great fluffy head retention/spotty lacing for the ABV. Aromas and flavors of huge raisin, plum, fig, date, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, biscuit, and brown bread/crust; with light notes of molasses, milk chocolate, cocoa, oak char, leather, tobacco, peppercorn, and yeast earthiness. A bit of booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Light herbal, grassy, peppery hop bitterness; and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy, silky, velvety, rich malts; light slickness, sticky hops, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter/tannic dryness, no cloying/astringency. Dangerously smooth sipping, mild increasing warmth of 13.1%, minimal lingering barrel booze. Perfect balance of super rich malts, fruity yeast, and bourbon barrel presence/integration. Not overly boozy, tannic, or drying on the barrels. Looks like I need to seek out a couple 4 packs. English Barleywines are my favorite style. 4.25

6 year revisit. This was incredible. Lasting fluffy head retention/thick soapy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/zest, wood, light peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate maple syrup, toasted bread, biscuit dough, light honey/caramel malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; balanced creamy/bready malts, sticky hops, and light lingering resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing lingering bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very smooth/soft, not aggressive, minimal warming 7.5%. Fantastic Amarillo, Simcoe, Cascade profile. Very juicy and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a great balance of maple syrup and bready malts. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. Will definitely get again, still tasting great after 5 months. Need to revisit 60/90 super soon. 4.28

Fantastic batch as expected, first one of 2018 I've tried. Flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, fudge, spicy rye, dark bread/crust, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, pecan nuttiness, licorice, raisin, fig, and date; with lighter notes of smoke, char, leather, tobacco, herbal, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, peppery hops; roast/char bitterness, and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Full bodied creamy, silky, velvety, bready malts; lightly slick, sticky hop, and chalky char/roast in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing hop/roast/char dryness, never acrid/astringent. Dangerously smooth. Mildly warming 11.5%, and minimal booze. This is a flat out amazing beer for the price. For being partial barrel aged, there is still plenty of barrel character going on. Big malt complexity, in combination with pecans and fruity yeast esters. Still just as impressive for being 1.5% less ABV in 2018. A bit thinner, but still as silky/velvety/rich on malts as usual. Might still be some more 6 packs floating around here.

Incredible as usual this year. Aromas and flavors of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate honey, white bread, light caramel malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation, medium-full bodied, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/bready malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter resin/rind dryness, no hop astringency. Amazing classic Columbus, Chinook, Centennial, Amarillo, Simcoe profile. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; with a great balanced malt backbone. Not overly sweet or bitter, extremely well balanced. Lightly boozy alcohol, but dangerously easy drinking. Never disappoints. Feels less sweet than last year. Also a lot easier to find.

This is amazing as always. Aromas and flavors of huge raisin, plum, fig, date, apricot, cherry, red apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and light clove/pepper yeast spice. Balanced sweetness and yeast/tannic oak spice on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus bodied; very smooth finish with creamy, silky, slick malts in the mouthfeel. Light spicy yeast/tannic oak dryness, never cloying. Incredible balance between bourbon barrels and classic quad complexity. Minimal warming ABV, no barrel booze. Well attenuated and not overly sweet. One of my favorite BBA Quads of all time. Well worth the premium price. Still more affordable than ones from Belgium for the format size.

I’m sitting in an airport in Istanbul drinking some local beer. It’s sort of thin pale yellow, slightly undercarbonated and has a metallic aftertaste.

In good news though, the snacks are good.
