You don't usually adjunct in the barrel. I'm sure he left the recipe sheets. They'll be whatever they were meant to be

We gotta be able to bottle share somewhere. So line up at LZB and then head out to our respective stores for the release pickup?

If he was doing what Mikerphone did a year or two ago, I would understand as that is a large undertaking, both financially and time-wise. However, they are not doing that, they are solely brewing with othger's equipment, which means very little invested comparatively. Again, I'm sure he has his reasons for not doing this two years ago, I'm just saying he would have been just as scucessful.

It's always entertaining to see all of us proclaiming what the right business move is and how things should have been done differently in these scenarios. I blame Mikerphone for that.

I would venture to guess that more breweries are brewing undercapacity now than 2 years ago (which doesn’t refute your point). But I think the contract option really makes a lot of short term sense right now post-proliferation of taprooms

Am I the only one who got the impression from the jump the More’s ownership was shady and money-grubbing?

"Why didn't he do this 2 years ago" makes the assumption that there was an opportunity to do so then. There aren't a whole lot of breweries out there with the kind of excess space, let alone tank capacity, to allow a brewer like Shaun to come in and borrow it.

This was as much "right place" as it was "right time"

Could be, you never know! Just a bunch of speculation from a lot of people that don't know the whole story  Be interesting to see how the good the beers are in April, looking forward to trying some...

The best part: A brewery that has never released a beer has three pages on a forum and the consensus best brewery over the last 20 years in the area has two pages...haha!

Lake County sheriffs patrol that area since it’s unincorperated Lake Zurich. Have fun with that.

I think he is following the HB model. This way he can get his actual product out into market instead of brewery releases only. Gypsy brew for a few years, get cans out every week (or every other week), then plan to open up his own brewpub in a few years.

LOL. Thanks, Hop Butcher, for pioneering the concept of contract/gypsy brewing!:rolling_eyes::rolling_eyes:

Hopefully this means I can try more of Shaun's beers (the distro to Chicago). I always liked what I had from him but not enough to drive out to Villa Park.

I just think ultimately Shaun wants to get his beer into the market, not have brewery only releases. Shaun is starting by doing what HB does to get beer out to distro, gypsy brew. Nothing has been announced by HB but Im sure they dont want to gypsy brew rest of their lives.
