What do these guys do so well that people line up? Like what flavors and feels do they manage to embody in beer ?

Please don't (assuming you have that power). This is fun! And I do think it's raising legitimate issues both specific to Three Chiefs and generic, issues that are being discussed with vigor and humor. Unless perhaps comments have been deleted, nobody has crossed any line.

This place isn't clearly the place to talk about the beer. If you don't like it, read the untappd reviews for self-satisfaction.

If you enjoy pastry stouts, they are doing it better than anyone on the west coast. Their stouts are viscous, adjunct heavy (though not in a negative way), and remind me a lot of the BA offerings from Angry Chair. Brûlée was the best Rum BA beer I ever had, it's like it had flavor contribution from the barrel without the burn.

I'll disagree with you here... I prefer Horus' adjuncted stuff more overall, tbh. I enjoyed Faha the 3x I've had it though it is quite sweet. I disliked Brulee but am also very sensitive to rum barrels so perhaps that was just me.

So generally sweeter stouts with flavorings and some barrels?

Well good luck to them, it seems unlikely I'll ever try their beer but I'll continue to enjoy the questions about valid business models

I enjoy Horus as well but most of their beers have a lot going on. Three Chiefs has made Coconut, Coffee, and Vanilla (haven't had Grasp). Every Horus beer has at least two of those and hazelnuts or something else. I think the Three Chiefs beers are more viscous as well, though that is personal preference. Proper Dose is a stand out among what I've had from Horus though, and I haven't had any of the BA stouts.

I hear you but viscosity doesn't mean much to me if I am not enjoying the drink. As I said, I enjoyed Faha but really disliked Brulee and was not a fan of Uno. Even Faha was sweet enough that I don't really want more than 4-6oz. I prefer Horus' beer as I feel they taste good, for the most part, have enough viscosity to be really enjoyable and tend to be less sweet than what I have had from Three Chiefs. I wasn't a fan of the almond Horus as I feel almonds add a lot of sweetness but, frankly, I'd take Proper Dose, Goshawk and Harpy's Grasp over anything I've had from Three Chiefs to date.

But I feel a lot of this is personal preference.

This is factually incorrect. Their most recent bottle release was BA Black Lotus. Kegs kicked the night of the release. The one before that was BA El Gato Diablo. Kegs kicked the following day. Literally zero of the stouts they've released in bottles have been available on draft for "weeks". Stuff like Draco will hang around on draft for a while, but we all know more people will come out for a BA stout than a Berliner.

Oh, and fyi during Barrel Theory bottle releases you *can't* order a beer on draft. They open early for bottle sales only, then tap kegs of said beer at regular opening time. Not even remotely a fair criticism

When you pee does it burn too? Asking for a friend for a Rum barrel.

Yeah that's EXACTLY what my hidden message meant in that breakdown of when a brewery sells beer to the public what it really means deep down, pure negativity. Bravo pg on solving the mysteries of the beer universe

you are right. we have made our issue clear. but you guys definitely dont seem like you ever heard what we were saying. you guys are still defending the beer and talking about the beer when the beer is not what is being complained about mostly......

you are ranting about the critics going out of their way to try a style that they dont like but that is not the case at all since the biggest complaints ARE NOT ABOUT THE BEER

In regards to the spin that holding 100 bottles are so back for a festival is generous is a laughable joke. Three Chiefs and The Bakebois thrive off those lines at the fest. Without line bait, they have nothing to post on insta.

Untappd ratings aside (hype inflated), that Going Back to Cali can release, where do I begin...

Label art pandering to both the rent collecting vatos and the crowd that can't get enough Biggie Smalls lyrics on a beer.

A dark clear DIPA, the beer literally nobody asked for. Should be called Going Back to 2005.

Needed to pull the glass/stout gimmick to get people to even think about buying that trash.

Has anyone wondered if there is any profit off of selling 20 cases of poorly made IPA or candy bar stouts out of someone else's facility? These clowns will eventually have to make a normal sized batch of beer if they ever want to not be hyped up ig homebrewers. Hopefully this is just their hobby and will move on.

Interesting that people keep saying it's not about the beer when nearly every post is someone trashing beer they didn't have.

Admit it... y'all are just a bunch of contrarians and no amount of answering your questions or acknowledging your complaints will satisfy you.

Can we please just talk about the beer? (Or are you going to take issue with that again and launch right back into your spiel about all the shady things this brewery is doing?)

Going out of your way to prove the contrarian bit, aren't you?

Apparently you can't read between the lines so I'll spell it out - its not particularly fun to go somewhere to try and talk about something when it is constantly derailed by trolls who have no interest in actually furthering the conversation.
