Having a sixpoint the crisp pilz after a very ,very long day

 

A bona fide second pour pic!!!

Just emptied the bomber into the over-sized snifter - I mean, why else would it be "over-sized?" Decent enough wee heavy - the barrel aging saves it from being mundane I think... Has the appropriate aromas and flavors of malted and fermented fruits like fig and date and plum, with elements of dank spice and chewy resin... A mild booziness, a hint of vanilla and oak, and some vapors of alcohol confirm the barrel affects... Improves and develops as it warms... A good if not top-notch wee heavy, easy to recommend but not likely to crack your top 5...

the fact that i can buy singles of some pretty damn good locals at a gas station makes me happy. haven't had much experience with o'fallon's brews but this might be my favorite so far.

Fantastic sweet stout! Great creamy head retention/spotty soapy lacing. Aromas and flavors of huge milk chocolate, cocoa, medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, frosting, cream, marshmallow, fudge, brownie/cake batter, roasted nuts, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of molasses, dark fruit, smoke, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very mild herbal, grassy, roasted coffee bitterness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; very creamy, silky, velvety, rich malts/sugars; slight slickness, sticky hops, and chalky roast. Slightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no cloying sweetness. Insanely rich and complex for 5.3%. Amazing balance of rich malts, fruity/nutty coffee, vanilla, and sugars; with just enough bitterness to balance sweetness. They nailed this. 4.25

Avery Truffale, all raspberry and chocolate, truly embraces "pastry beer". Even has chunks of raspberry! Never had a chunky fruit beer before, not sure I like that aspect. Ended up removing them.
