I actually did this for an outlandish homebrew contest. Took their base beer, remashed it with oats, wheat, and black malt. Dry hopped the fuck out of it. Put nibs, strawberries, vanilla, and 3 packets of freeze dried neapolitan ice cream.

It honestly was pretty good, but the freeze dried ice cream did nothing. Maybe added a little body but no flavor, which wasn't surprising.

It seems to be it just attracts the type of assholes who try to fight when they get drunk... except they use that shit head energy to try and steal beer from friendly people who are giving them beer

Never seen any fighting at DLD or anything close to it, lots of good vibes, aside from the rainy days but beer happiness still won much of those days in a weird way.

Thieves aren't the fighting type either.

Yeah, I don't think I've really seen any negative vibes at all in the 3 DLDs that I've been to. Maybe that's cause I'm my own personal ray of sunshine.

One strategy that worked well for me to try all variants last year was to have an empty glass, and a whale with me to swap pours from people who just got out of line for a variant. This works well as its a long fest day and the pours are like 5 oz, which is a huge volume for people trying stuff all day. Allowed to save time and try multiple variants on tap within minutes of one another.

We did this! Works great and pretty much each person we approached was more than happy to share. Some didn't even care for a pour in return.

Yeha I meant instead of starting fights they use their shithead energy to try and steal bottles. I’ve had multiple people try every year I’ve been. Other then that everyone is very friendly and generous

the only issue I had last year was line cutters at the modern times beer that the keg blew in a minute.
But also on the flip side of that, random (multiple) people leaving that line with a glass of that delicious brownie batter shared it with me.

I have a face that people feel sorry for, so pours often favor me

I did something similar to this. I would buy 2 pours of the variant from the line I was in. Then I would go to another line and approach someone in the front of the line and asked to trade. So they would buy 2 variants in the line they were in and then we would swap.

Did this as well, I certainly wasn't going to drink a full pour of all the special variants, so some cases I was offering a pour of the variant for whatever anyone nearby was carrying, or like you said sharing what I have for people with pours of the variants.

My group also was splitting up and we had cups on reserve to share among ourselves of whatever we were buying on tap.

Think I basically tried them all this way.

I think it will be interesting to see what groups people shoot for knowing that its random variants. Used to always be A preference.

It's been random the past two years.

I heard it won’t be random this year. My source is very very well connected.
