Still can't believe Navaja won't be around for six months; this beer is amazing. It was always tougher to find than anything else in their regular line-up. Crazy to see it limited to one month.

Must be something along the lines of the miles per gallon restrictions for car manufactures. Must be some sort of abv restriction for breweries...

Or maybe they found that it didn't quite sell as well for those 6 months as it did when limited to a smaller window? That is what tends to happen when places make a beer more available.

You could be right but for a "regular" line up beer, it was sold out 50% of the time. It was not sitting on shelves (at least in the Schaumburg area)...

Well, you guys have weird shit happen in the burbs.

I definitely recall seeing it on shelves throughout its whole run in the city. Just like other limited releases that have expanded production (BHA, GDDC, etc.)

My guess is that that was case, although I'll also say that I had pretty mixed results trying to find Navaja whenever I looked. Places like Binny's were pretty good for the most part, but smaller shops actually did run out.

So I'm basically just gonna blame Binny's for this whole tragedy.

Nobody get Jaws. It is a disgusting swill of deep opaque, tropical + citrus flavors with the typical shitty balance of hallmark Half Acre malt dry and mildly bitter finish, and full mouthfeel. It’s like, the worst of both worlds: tropical citrus aroma + taste (to go with expected NE IPA appearance) and Half-Acre finish. I will take the bullet and purchase as much as they will allow me so that no one else has to suffer.

Indeed! I was lucky to have it on tap yesterday at Balmoral and snagged a four pack.

eppie is right it be horrible and no one buy (oh wait its sold out) or trade it for any crazy rare stuff.

Just for research purposes Im not going to open my last can for a couple of weeks and see if it tastes any different than it does now. Jaws is basically hitting the ceiling (their words) and typical half acre full on raw hop mastery.

    Guys, please make more.

Taking my starting location out of the equation, what's a better overall experience? Lincoln or Balmoral?

I will be with one other person and snacky food will likely be had, but not a full blown meal.

What time and day are you trying to go? If you want the guarantee of having a seat regardless of time/day, go to Balmoral.

There's more of a variety of food at Balmoral, and it's a much bigger place. You can also hang outside when weather permits (I assume that's not the case yet).

If you don't need a lot of space and really like burritos, Lincoln is a good bet, and since that's the original, you get bonus points for historical importance.

Once I loved Lincoln, it's still the hipper/cooler place but, I quit attempting to go as every time I walk in it is wall to wall with people. I just want a relaxing time where I can walk in and grab a beer or food at the bar or table without having to wait or salmon swim upstream through a mass of people to order a beer.
Lincoln- Wall to wall of nuts to butts. Like a college basement party. If you want to see and be seen go while standing in a non-relaxed environment with a beer this is your place.
Balmoral- If you want a relaxing spot-almost embarrassingly quiet, where beer is easily obtained and where you'll feel out of place among the overwhelmed, drinking stroller crowd- go here.

I've gone to Half Acre plenty of times after work on a Friday in the last year and it hasn't been absolutely swamped. If you're going in when they're releasing a major beer, sure, it's going to be crazy. If you have a group then it may be tricky to get a seat but I'm pretty consistently able to get at least a seat at the high top against the wall they have.

Not saying it's spacious or anything, but it's not always nuts in there.
