    Happy Monday ba. Up and at it with my last can of this on hand. This was very cool to try and its pretty good. Very coffee forward which I like, and remarkably drinkable for the abv. Not sure that I'll revisit as my taste seems to really prefer the coffee stout.

    Did another - it's better warmed a bit, as is usual with most stouts, but still doesn't stand out for me. Renegade Depravity Chocolate Peanut Butter Imperial Stout. Headed to Cali tomorrow to visit family so will be scarce for the week... cheers!

    Light golden color with substantial white cap and lacing.

    Relatively mild aroma of bready malt with a distinctive hit of lemon.

    Taste like a solid lager that someone squirted with a bit of lemon juice. For me this lemon touch comes across as bitter and not very bright. That is to say it comes into the room stomping it's muddy boots on the carpet. Otherwise it's a good tasting beer.

    Medium to full texture with balancing carbonation. I was actually surprised by the weight of this beer.

    Without the lemon I would've scored this beer a bit higher. I mean it's just not a useful addition because it drags the beer down with a heavy lemon bitterness rather than lifting the flavor up with a lemon brightness.

    I plan on taking it easy this week, for the most part, while on vacation (a vacation at home). Revisiting one of the beers I tried out yesterday, Death Posture by Foreign Objects (which describes the visual quality of their beer accurately, I suppose).

    Unknown ABV. Bottle 79 of 120

    Murky brown body with a decent head, lasting and relatively creamy with some sticky fingers of foam clinging to the glass. Warm and inviting aroma, full of caramel and nuts. Very rich and flavorful, emphasizing deep roasted grains and caramel; a little smokey; traces of bourbon and aged white oak. Heavy body; warm and coating on the palate; semi-sweet with some alcohol dryness.

    It is nice to find well-crafted barrel aged beers that come across balanced and deep with flavor and complexity. This beer from Phantom Canyon does it. There is nothing pretentious or over the top here; just delivering a finely tuned, balanced beer. A great one to grab a hold of if you can.

    Lots of mostly beer chores today...finished packing 2 more boxes of “collectible glassware”, hit the UPS then 2 honey holes on that side of town, then grocery store...now at home with a cold Jai Alai straight outta the can:



    I was going to take today off, but gathered some cold IPAs that need to be consumed - Cheers Monday bar mates!

    Dogfish Head Pennsylvania Tuxedo. The spruce tips actually work quite well for such an odd ingredient.
