Dark Lord Day (2019)

IDK...I think this is the year people fully committed more than any other year to social media over dedicated websites for beer news. That could actually mean this will be even crazier than previous years, with the voracity that comes with spreading of event hype. Or maybe interest in DLD really is waning.

Or maybe it's because @Quilentro started this thread last year, before DLD 2018 even occurred, it doesn't even say "Day" in the thread title, and it confused the hell out of people!

 

Can you imagine if Obscura played? That would be so awesome

 

Well, in 20 years when I'm at my 31st in a row and it's called Dark Lord Hour 2039, and there's only 58 of us there (33 being robots) with one lawn chair and a game of Jarts going on in the corner, we'll find out.

 

One of the robots will be Beezy.

nah, you just check the fluid levels.

Anyone use the shuttle service from The Open Bottle last year?

 

Is that the one with the red and white flashing lights? Because maybe.

This would’ve made my 10th consecutive year but I have other commitments...and more sadly those don’t involve seeing TOOL at open air. I noticed less sharing last year too except for the line to get bottles - that was still solid and my favorite part. I think it has to do with less beer being permitted at entry (so people are pickier with what they bring to share) and all the variants on tap (so people spend more time in those lines).

I predict tickets will last longer this year but still sell out same day. I haven’t experienced stealing but a buddy had his regs stolen and another friend’s car was broken into while he was asleep in it.

It’s a different crowd than 6-7-8 years ago.

I used it 2 years ago and it was super convenient.

 

If you drink enough Dark Lord, Obscura plays every year...

 

They did limit some. I hit Handjee twice and both times it was limit 2 glasses pp. CMT at like 7 pm had no line and you could literally drink as much as you wanted.

 

Yup, I drank like 2 full pours of CTM at the end of the day. It was awesome. Staying reasonably sober enough til 4 pm or so is key.

 

This is for your own safety. After two the skin starts to wear off....

 

post 4pm there was a chemtrail and handjee taps with no one in line. i had a handjee in one had chem in the other, i didn't know what to do.

Yes, I've used the Open Bottle shuttle service to DLD the past two years. As others have said, it's worth it and recommended. They allow bottle sharing on the bus and made getting to and from DLD stress free. I live within walking distance from Open Bottle, so it's extremely convenient for me.

They also open early and have special tappings all day.
