my wife is visiting and may be able to bring something home

I was looking into breweries that do can releases

Suggestions? Wren House and AZ Wilderness look like decent options

I don’t know whereabouts she is staying...she was supposed to look up the address but forgot

Both are good options for to-go. Pretty far apart from each other so really depends on location. Wilderness = Gilbert and Wren = Phoenix.

Right now Wren House has some Spellbinder Hazy IPA 4 packs left and some of their doughnut stout left too ( both released this weekend). They open at 11 and are on 24th street and Thomas so close to airport and downtown area. Let us know where she is staying and we will try and give you some tips.

AZ Wilderness has their Downtown Phoenix location finally up and running.

Haven’t had much time to research as I’ve been pretty busy between work and caring for three young children on my own

Seems like she may not be in the best area for grabbing me beer

They don’t have a rental vehicle...using Uber to get everywhere (basically just to a continuing education class and dinner) so after factoring in the cost to a place like Wren House a couple of 4 packs would come at quite an expense

Goldwater and McFate in Scottsdale will be the best bet. Both will usually have cans to go and beer at both places is pretty goddamn good.

If she’s flying out of Sky Harbor, King’s Convenience is right on the light rail. If she were willing to Uber there, she could just hop on the light rail, then onto the Sky Train directly to the airport.

Depends on how nice your wife is. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

    she's not that nice : /

also, she is traveling with coworkers where, I assume the dentist, is kind of making the transportation arrangements

looks like Goldwater is about 10 miles away from where she's at, North Scottsdale

McFate's is only a few but the north location doesn't have anything to go currently

any good liquor stores I should look into? preferably somewhere that is active on social media with what they receive for beer so I'm not blind

I am headed to Scottsdale in the morning. (From Portland Or)I’ll always stop in at Total wine who has an okay selection of local beers. Not too sure how long some have been on the shelves though. Papago, if it’s still around, had a very good selection of locals too. I’m looking for juicy hazys this time around so I might hit up Wren. Good luck.

If you're in Scottsdale stop by Gold Water Brewing. ( Scottsdale Road & Goldwater ) they usually have cans to go. Wren House may not have anything in cans since they usually do releases on Saturdays.. Since you are by Wren House stop by Wandering Tortoise its literally a couple miles away. and get some cans to go. They are a tap house / bottle shop so they have cans from Modern Times, La Cumbre , Pizza Port etc.

Nope. Papago is gone. McFate (right next to where Papago used to be) always has some cans, but usually not any hazy IPAs (they usually do on draft). Also, what @Beaverhuntr said. Not really aware of any good bottle shops in Scottsdale. A couple of good ones if you can get down to Tempe, though.

I live near Tree House and Trillium and thought so highly of Tombstone Brewing NEIPAs that I packed some home on my flight yesterday. I have always appreciated how active their brewer is on beer advocate, and I now appreciate how great their beer is.

Agreed. If you come to Arizona looking for NEIPA and don’t drink any Tombstone, you messed up. It’s nice that it’s so much easier to get their beers without visiting the brewery than it is to get Wren House or Pueblo Vida. I guess you have to have good distribution when you’re way down in Tombstone!

Yeah man Tombstone's IPA's keep getting better and better. They have recently moved up my ranks for IPA's in Arizona.
    1) Pueblo VIda
    2) Tombstone
    3) Wren House or Goldwater

Here's my only legit beef with Tombstone... Who the fuck cleans their cans ? Every time I get a 4 pack the cans are sticky .

I had Tombstone's Another Exercise in Mediocrity when I was down there last week and it was probably the best beer I had on the trip. Really incredible stuff.

That’s real weird that the cans would be sticky. Are you consistently buying from the same place? Our canning line has a rinser that rinses the cans after seaming and a blower to dry the cans off before applying the packing and boxing. I don’t see any way that the cans leave the brewery sticky. I also haven’t found sticky cans when I take them home myself.

    Weedy,
I have noticed sticky cans also. Not every time but once in a while. Mine came from One Stop Gas and Food so different place than above mentioned.

Agree, I am beyond happy how available Weedy makes it here in Phoenix. I love the beer but cannot drive down to get so having it come up as often is really nice and very appreciated!!! My favorite beer in AZ..
