Friday is here and school finished early today. I have work later this evening and need to go home and take a nap. But naps are so much better if you've had a few beers first.

Cocoa Nut by Dark Star, a 6% ABV chocolate and hazelnut porter served on cask. For some reason I've never tried a dark beer on cask and been dying to try it. This is definitely a good first try. It's silky smooth like a nitro beer and tastes sweet and delicious. Just a top notch beer! Cheers to the weekend BA's.

Nothing like a morning run on vacation to work off all of the excess booze and food from the night before. Back at the room now for a morning swim and a Presidente somewhere there in the distance.

American Red by Vocation Brewery, 4.7% ABV red ale. Nothing special but quite alright.

Up with the sun, long walk to park and back with dogs, home now with some coffee...Glassware courtesy of @GreenBayBA , beer courtesy of @scream - “Uber Joe”, a Maplewood Stave Aged Imperial Stout with Coffee, Cocoa Nibs and Vanilla, by 3 Sheeps Brewing, Sheboygan WI:

Bottled 3/29/18 Poured at 51 degrees.

Tight beige head with aggressive pour; good clarity;long cap retention; solid ring; sudsy lacing; thin legs. 4.75

Coffe and “woody” (I can’t describe better) nose; roast malt. 4.0

Cocoa nibs, dark chocolate, bitter roast coffee; vanilla as liquid warms up; eventually maple on backend; woody coffee bean finish. 4.25

Medium lite body; moderate carbonation; little to no warming for 10%; dryish wooden tongue coating. 4.0

Overall, subtle well balanced flavors, no one piece of the puzzle doesn’t fit with the others; a bit thin for an Imperial Stout, but dangerously drinkable as there is no hint of the ABV; a bit drying for me and I think I would enjoy even more with out the Maple Staves; nevertheless, an excellent coffee Stout and I highly recommend. 4.25

Thanks again for the glassware and suds fellows, and have a great Friday brothers and sisters of the virtual bar - Cheers!

Bread & Butter by Vocation Brewery, again, a 3.9% ABV pale ale on cask, again. Real buttery. Like melted butter was poured into it. It's alright but all that butter makes it a bit heavy. I'm ready for a nap now though. Hopefully there's a bunch of new brews to try when I get into work in a few hours.

I did a little sidestep on the way home and visited one of the bars that is owned by the same people as the bar I work in. It wasn't supposed to happen but it's on my way home and I get a 50% discount on all beers so why not

Bible Belt by Evil Twin, a 13% ABV imperial stout. And!
Beer Geek Slumber Party by Fanø Bryghus, a 9.4% ABV Belgian Quadruple.

The first one was nothing special. I've tried quite a few Evil Twin stouts by now and have never really been impressed. They're alright but nothing out of the ordinary.
The second one though was fantastic! It wasn't your ordinary Belgian quad but it was sweet and really, really sessionable in spite of the high ABV. Easily a beer you could drink all night. Although you would really regret it the next day. Now! I am ready for nap before working the bar later.

Color is a pinkish red cast gold with orange gold highlights at the edges, good white cap and lacing.

Clean, mild aroma of slightly tart fruit, which fruit I don't immediately identify.

Mild tart taste at first, somewhat like cranberry, accompanied by a restrained sourness. In fact the whole makeup is one of mildness though that's not to say flavorless. It is flavorful, sweet/tart berry, mild grain, just not so much as to turn off customers who don't want anything too adventurous. I get it, make something a little different but not too different. It is well balanced and refreshing.

    Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

This could be a useful brew. I see myself sitting on a patio overlooking the beach. It has enough sharpness to stand up to fried foods but not so much as to overpower a cheeseburger. I'd buy it again.
