Dozed off before I could really get started on this tasty stout from @jvgoor3786, so might as well finish it now. Happy Saturday advocates!

Fantastic batch this year as usual. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, fudge, marshmallow, vanilla, spicy rye whiskey, toasted oak, roasted nuts, and dark bread; with lighter notes of coconut, licorice, molasses, raisin, fig, date, smoke, char, leather, and tobacco. Touch of booze in the aromas as it warmed, but not overwhelming. Mild roast/char bitterness and rye whiskey/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and full body; with a very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is fantastic. Slight slickness, stickiness, chalky roast, whiskey/oak tannins, and increasing dryness. No cloying, acrid, astringency. Dangerously smooth sipping. Lightly increasing warmth of 12.9%, with a touch of barrel booze lingering after the finish. Amazing balance of rich malts, fruity/nutty coffee complexity, and barrel presence/integration. Not overly boozy, tannic, drying on barrels. Love it more with age, still amazing fresh. Wish they would have kept the 6 packs, but I will definitely get a few more bombers to enjoy during the year. Still on the shelf in a lot of places.

In the interest of full disclosure, these will probably be what I am drinking now for a while. Might even work in a little sleep during the session, as the day will consist of running some errands with Jr, vaccuuming the house, and doing some cooking for my wife’s birthday party tonight while she and the daughter are off at a wedding shower in the afternoon.

One of the most exciting things about KBS coming out is the side by side comparison with last year’s batch. Last year it was almost a rout, as 17 with a year just destroyed fresh 18. However, this year, it’s a lot closer. I’ll still take this beer with a year on it, but to me, 19 isn’t as undeveloped at the same stage as 18 was, and it seems like 18 is a bit thinner than 17 was at a year old. I’m going to save my last 18 for a three way dance next year.

Heard this on SiriusXM Indie 1.0 while writing this. Glad I spring for the app so I can get the online stations, because this one is like being in my early 20’s but without the bad relationships, poor self esteem, and a full head of non-greying hair.

This year's batch of this beer is much better than last year. This is a lot more balanced. I think this is what Central Waters intended with this beer, rather than the rum and cola flavor of last year's version.

Oh sure, but after walking three dogs, putting down kitty litter, a fresh blanket for the puppies then food and water for all banging around the kitchen for 20-30 minutes doesn't interest me so beer won.

Last of the six pack I picked up recently . . .

Clear amber gold color with good white cap and lacing.

Aroma of good malt, touch of caramel and citrus hops.

Taste on entry is malt forward with slightly citrus hops following. Malt really is the main player here but hops sing loud enough to be heard and actually carry the melody. I keep searching for a bit of pine in the hops because there just seems to be a bit of that in there but still didn't find any identifiably pine presence in the taste. The hops actually strike me as more European as in the Noble varieties. Whatever they are the hops are clean, bright and add just the right high notes to accent the malt nicely.

Hoof Hearted NEIPA. This was incredible. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew, watermelon, berries, citrus peel/zest, wood, and light peppercorn/pine hops; with moderate wheat, cracker, biscuit dough, light honey/toasted malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Mild pine, citrus peel/zesty, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; very creamy, silky, bready, grainy malts; and light sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no cloying/astringency. Amazingly smooth/soft, minimal warmth of 7%. Feels like Galaxy, El Dorado, Citra. Extremely juicy, and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; with a perfectly balanced wheat/oat/malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. Amazing style example, would get more.

Fantastic Russian Imperial Stout. Better than I remember, had to rewrite the whole review last month. Amazing creamy lasting head retention the whole glass from the nitro. Aromas and flavors of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, toasted oats, roasted nuts, biscuit, and dark bread; with lighter notes of licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, tobacco, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, piney hops, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, woody, grassy, peppery hop; and roast/charred bitterness on the finish. Light carbonation and fairly full body; with a very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel; light slickness, sticky hops, and chalky char/roast. Lightly increasing lingering hop/char bitter dryness; no cloying, acrid, astringency. Dangerously smooth, minimal warming 10.2%. Amazingly rich and well rounded imperial stout malt complexity, balancing earthy hops, and restrained fruity English yeast character. Will definitely buy again! Got a 4 pack this week.

Very nice white stout. Flavors of big milk/white chocolate, cocoa, medium roast coffee, honey, caramel, toffee, vanilla, cream, bourbon, toasted oak, nuts, biscuit, and white bread dough/crust; with lighter notes of coconut, fruit, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast earthiness. Similar/muted aromas. Light-moderate pine, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness; and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; creamy, silky, bready, grainy malts; some sticky hops, and bourbon/oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter/tannic dryness; no cloying/astringency. Very smooth, no warmth of 6% or barrel booze. Overall it'll satisfy the itch for a BBA brew at a good price. Well balanced bready malts, cocoa, coffee, and vanilla flavors; with nice overall barrel presence/integration, and balancing earthy hops. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. Expected more from it, but well executed.

Incredible as usual this year. Aromas and flavors of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate honey, white bread, light caramel malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation, medium-full bodied, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/bready malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter resin/rind dryness, no hop astringency. Amazing classic Columbus, Chinook, Centennial, Amarillo, Simcoe profile. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; with a great balanced malt backbone. Not overly sweet or bitter, extremely well balanced. Lightly boozy alcohol, but dangerously easy drinking. Never disappoints. Feels less sweet than last year. Also a lot easier to find.
