    Starting the day with Super Bock Stout. As everybody know Super Bock is the big commercial beer in Portugal and I was running errands in a small Portuguese shop, France having quite a sizeable Portuguese community:

    Well, I’m disappointed. I wasn’t expecting this to be outstanding but better than that at least. For the same price; I’ll stick to Guinness foreign extra stout.

    Nice light golden color with white cap and lacing.

    Lovely aroma of dry, crackery malt and floral, spicy hops.

    Taste is hop forward with a firm bitterness that also develops a hop brightness as the beer warms up a bit. Malt flavor is dry, crackery and bready, yet malt plays a secondary role here supporting the hops. Not as malty as traditional Pils but I'm getting the impression that old style is not the goal here. Call it an updated take on the Pils style. Not a diminished one, or for that matter a better one, just different in it's own way and it's good.

    Mrs. Z is up and has gone out to run errands this morning; unusual start for her/our day...Juice me! My last “Rinse/Repeat with Idaho 7”:



    Canned 2/4/19 and so tasty. Any astringency has disappeared, the feel is soft and rounded. Plenty of tropical fruit hop nose, with pineapple, mango, passionfruit, guava, and some bitter lemon pith on the tongue. Just enough malt sweetness to balance the hops. Medium minus body, moderate carbonation. So easy drinking and delicious. Perhaps my favorite IPA with Idaho 7 this year - I hope Westbrook makes more. Cheers!

    Right along here ba. This is Space Dream, ddh version oat cream ipa, from Other Half. Very smooth with light pithy fruit. Not as popping, as some of their other offerings for me, but still pretty nice stuff,

    A bit of vanilla malted milk porter to go with my homemade Chilpotle Chicken Chili for lunch. The hops are definitely getting through this semi-sweet beer and hot chili.

    Mrs. Z is home from the grocery store w/a fresh six of Jai Alai (3/5/19 - I’ll take it!) for me, yea! On the balcony, 66 degrees in the shade, only 47% humidity and I’m enjoying this late burst of Spring cool weather:
