I would have to say Kane and Carton brewing companies, unless you want to include Anheiser Bush in Newark-

I read that also but Coor's Light isn't brewed in NJ. I wonder what would happen to the building if it's closed.

    Airport parking?

A little too big (7.5M bbl.) for any craft-sized brewery to consider, just like all the other macro-sized breweries that have closed in the past three decades or so. And City probably has all the capacity they need.

Maybe Pabst wants to come back to their second home? Say, where's that giant bottle water tower again?

(Nah, they'd rather just keep complaining about working with MillerCoors).

For NJ I'm gonna go with Kane Sneakbox because the can has Barnegat Light on it.

Carton Boat is an honorable mention because I just don't have as much nostalgia with the North Jersey/Highlands area....wonderful beer tho.

If I go into a random bar in Upstate, which am I likely to see on tap? Genny.

Popular Minnesota choice would be Surly Furious, but I'd think it's Grain Belt.

Hamms is also an option, but since it's not made in Minnesota any more...

    Fair enough.

But then we'd have to split up CA, TX, maybe FL...

That being said, I did consider something from Ommegang though for NY in general.

Gennessee seems a bit too mainstream/macro though in my opinion.

    THIS ^^^
The evolution from Fat Tire to Odell IPA is glorious... even places you don’t think you’ll see anything worth drinking end up having IPA on draft and its always delicious

The most popular beer in Maryland is probably Michelob Ultra (upper middle class suburbanites love this stuff).

The official beer-like beverage representing Maryland should be a "Baltmer Margharita"....Natty Bo with Old bay rimming the can.

For Iowa, TG Pseudo Sue, Walmart even carried it for a while. For near by states, Goose Island IPA or Half Acre Daisy Cutter for Illinois, Surly Furious for Minnesota, New Glarus Spotted Cow for Wisconsin and Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat for Missouri.

25-30 years ago you'd have been right, probably 75% of the bars had it on tap and the grocery stores carried their full line. Now nobody has it on tap. The Bock isn't bad and sells well, but the stores carry Genny as a bargain brand.

What I meant was that it's akin to a Pabst, and also like you say, isn't really very representative.

I'm also not looking for answers like Coors Light

I understand why the moderators merged my thread with this one (see my original post below), but this is also why I'm not happy it was merged. People will miss my "original post".

    Oh well.

These are the types of answers I was interested in!

Up in my parents' part of the Catskills (Sullivan County) the answer would seem to be Roscoe Trout Town Amber- it's seemingly everywhere and they always seem to show up at festivals and such with their beer truck whenever I'm there. I couldn't say whether that translates to the surrounding counties or not. The appeal is much more to "regular Joes" than craft beer folk, although some of their other brews can be quite nice.

Funny thing, you said fat tire on page one, and mentioned Casey for something more contemporary.
An argument could be made for Odell ipa, left hand milk stout, boulder hazed and infused, great divide yeti, OB 10.50, Coors original, hell I would even throw laughing lab in there. Also, half of BA is gone from when this thread began.

    RIP @EvenMoreJesus

WV would be Greenbrier Valley Brewing Devil Anse IPA. It was the first canned IPA in the state and can be found everywhere.
