The approach taken here is balanced, quite complex, and a bit unorthodox given the toasty aroma and correspondences of dark, roasted/grainy malts, caramelized nuts, cocoa, faint mild fruit, tea leaves, and a spiced hop bite with a smoked circumference

Feel is soft, creamy, and semi-sweet, but with that delicate, light, clean lager finish across a grassy, deep-rooted terrain. Nonetheless, layered malt involvedness is at play to the openness of rye, smoked brisket, blackened toast/pumpernickel, dark-fruited chocolate, and slight creamed coffee

Aroma opens with more burnt wood, black licorice, and a stronger presence of dark fruit obscurities: raisins, figs...Aroma is quite the attention-grabber, and this 750ml leaves plenty of room for exploration amongst the lovely malt convolutions

...Hopefully a new staple to the rotation/roster

Thanks! I wrote this recipe after spending an afternoon drinking dark lager at U Fleku in Prague, and then spending subsequent others at Lokal, where they pour unfiltered and unpasteurized Kozel. U Fleku's was on the sweeter side, while the Kozel has more of a subtle roast -- I wanted to try to toe the line between the two.

Do you anticipate keeping it around for the time being and seasonally/in rotation?

That sounds like a heavenly experience. Kozel Cerny is definitely on my list of beers to try before I die.
piggybacking off of this, any chance this makes it into cans? Not that its at all your problem, but its so much easier to pick up cans than make it up to the brewery (for us suburban losers).

No plans for this in cans at the moment -- but we do have an exciting can plan in place for this year! -- hopefully, this will become a seasonal, however.

The Helles Lager is fantastic! Saw the 4-pack in my local beer store and I wanted to try a Dovetail beer but now I want to try them all! These cans will be in the cooler this year!

Its so nice not having to rush to pick these up. Sat at my local shop for weeks. I actually preferred the Vienna but both were such good representation of the style.

Framboise is really tasty. Very intense raspberry sourness, though it finishes nice and dry with some lingering oak to balance it out.

Fresh batch of Pilsner is tasting great too, I heard a rumor that it might be next in line for canning...:open_mouth: Paging @OleWorm

Cool, thanks for clarifying that! So there’s a new canning line, will that eventually allow for more small batch canning runs?
