    Just finished up nightshifts, but have to be back Thursday for six days. Revisiting my last two remaining domestic dubbels this morning. The Taxman is better than I had it scored two years ago. The NB is just an outlier with a weird burnt plastic note. Cheers all!

    One of my Mountain Standard Time, standard beers. Packing for a road trip to NM. Fun. Brutal travel schedule this last month for the next one which is why I've been scarce.

    Beautiful weather today has got me rummaging through my fishing equipment . . .

    Very light gold color with large white cap and lacing.

    Aroma of mild bready malt and fresh cut hay.

    Taste on entry is more hops than malt forward, indeed the malt doesn't really catch up to the hops at any point from start to finish remaining in a supporting role. Hops are vibrant, spicy and just a bit floral. Hops are also sharp and firm without being bitter. Simple flavors that work nicely together.

    I'm starting out the afternoon with a 750 ml bottle of Westmalle Tripel. I'm not Shanex, for whom this is an everyday drinker. For me, this is a special, rare treat. It's as good a beer as I've ever had. The look & head are as close to perfect as you can get. The smell & taste are complex fruits & yeastiness. Apricot & citrus are up front. This is a bright, sunny day in the Philly burbs, and this beer is making it just perfect.
