What part of Indiana are you from? Your comment about the restaurant has me curious. There’s a place where my wife’s family is from that does something similar.

 

I didn’t want to believe it, but orange Vanilla Coke is crazy good.

Ok, I gotta ask...how does the peanuts thing work? Like what kind of nut? Shell and all? Roasted, raw, boiled? Do u eat the nuts when you're done drinking the soda?

I think they use a pack of those roasted, salted, no shell peanuts and pour them in a coke. (I think)

 

North Central. I live an hour north of Indy. Muncie area is what I usually tell people, even though that’s not the town I live. The place is about 40 minutes from me, but a small little town that would be considered Muncie/Winchester area.

 

That is a new one on me, FYI peanuts are better in RC Cola, or so my grandfather taught me.

 

That is correct, buy a pack of peanuts buy a coke pour the peanuts from the pack into the bottle of coke!!!

i hope such a place does not exist, I have been several places were what they call biscuits and gravy were questionable!!! It also blew my mind the first time I found out sweet tea was not a thing everywhere.

The south does a lot of things right. I loooove Low Country cooking and Shrimp & Grits (when done right) is one of my favorite things to eat and make. But some things are just not right.

Here is The Voice of Reason's hot take for the day:

Southern Chicken and Waffles and Chicken Pot Pie can't hold a candle to the Pennsylvania Dutch chicken and waffles and Pennsylvania Dutch chicken pot pie.

Chicken & Waffles is done with shredded chicken in gravy with potatoes, onion, celery, and seasoning....it's ladled OVER a homemade waffle.....a side of mashed potatoes is encouraged.

Chicken Pot pie is made with a thick chicken broth, shredded chicken, carrots, potatoes and homemade noodles about a 1/4 inch thick! There isn't a "crust"......

I truly feel sorry for those that have not tried these Glorious dishes.
