I saw an article by Josh Noel in the Chicago Tribune about the 10th anniversary of Half Acre Daisy Cutter Pale Ale. For those that have not had it, it’s a 5.2 ABV West Coast Pale Ale. It was a must have beer when it was first released and is still a very nice beer. I get it every time I see it on tap, which is frequent.
It is Chicago’s Pale Ale, so it’s available at many restaurants, bars, and Wrigley Field.

Here’s Josh’s article, which gives the history of the beer.

I couldn’t agree more with what he wrote. What’s your city’s iconic, available everyday, staple beer?

I live in a town with 600 and some people. It's probably whatever I'm drinking lol.

The closest city to me is Harrisburg and where I lived for ~5 years and still work in. This is where I was introduced to Tröegs Perpetual IPA. Seems like many bars had this on draft. And for those that didn't, they had it in bottles.

I don't know about iconic, but Defiant's Muddy Creek Lager probably fits the bill (a hoppy-ish dark lager). The funny thing about that beer is that when the brewery opened it was supposed to have completely rotating taps, but the customers kept asking for the Muddy Creek so much that it became a regular thing (much to the chagrin of the brewer/owner )

I have a place near by- not a craft bar by any stretch, mostly a sports bar/local barfly kind of place. The kind that has like 14 taps, most of which are corporate BMC type beers, but usually the one local tap is...you guessed it, Muddy Creek. That's the kind of niche that beer fills. It's none too shabby, either.

I live in a city of 50,000+ population that is mostly a working-class group, so I'm guessing that Bud Light (or some other macro) is the leading seller. If I had my way, it would be Bell's Two Hearted.

I used to travel to Philly for work and had Perpetual several times. It’s a really good one.

Iconic may have been too strong of a word. Most popular craft everyday drinker may have been a better term.

Creature Comforts Tropicalia by a long shot. Walk into any restaurant or bar and 95% chances are Trop is on tap or in a can.

In that case, I'll go with Natty Greene's Buckshot Amber. Nathanael Greene was a Quaker Rhode Island general sent south by George Washington to straighten out the war in south colonial America. The battle at Guilford Courthouse was basically the last conflict of The Revolutionary War before Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown. Greensboro is named for him, incorporated in 1808. Natty Greene's is a brew pub and brewery for many years.
