Well the people behind Pretty Things are opening a new brewery in England - see the following fairly recent article.

I swear that I'd heard or read some months ago that their Sheffield brewery plans had fallen through. Nice to see they made it happen. Sad to see they made it happen so far away from my house.

I think the original location did fall through— this seems to be a different part of Sheffield.

Nice. Hoping some of it makes it's way across the pond....

I visited the site. Right now they're a one beer brewery, like the Howard Johnsons in Blazing Saddles.

I wish them the best. Loved Pretty Things.

This podcast has a great interview with Dann & Martha, with a full exploration of what they've been doing since they left Boston.
    https://sheffieldhopcast.co.uk/episodes/

The VERY abbreviated version of the story: When they left Boston, they had a bit of cash in hand so took a few years off to travel the world, eventually returning to the idea of brewing beer and opening a small brewery. They considered areas along the East Coast (in warmer states -- like Virginia & North Carolina), but also in France and the UK. After many stops and starts, they settled in their current location in Sheffield -- where they've bought a house and are working to get the brewery up and running.

It's well worth listening to the whole podcast if you enjoyed Pretty Things. I still miss their beers desperately, but it's great to hear that Dann and Martha are doing well.

That was an interesting read, and I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. There's a strange air of resentment towards other US brewers, and maybe even the customers? It may be just because I am insanely salty that these guys are across the Atlantic. I don't think any of us were ready for Jack D'or to die.

I did not read any salt in that post.

I didn’t read resentment. Instead I read fatigue. I think they were just exhausted from brewing relatively huge amounts with just two people. But, I’m also really bummed that they’re in UK rather than US. With Martha being a Brit, I just presumed that after a while it was time to be on her side of the Atlantic.

The demise of the high-yield bomber at the time was the demise of PT.

But little did they know beer geeks now would regularly pay $20 (roughly equivalent of 3 $7 bombers) for 4-packs of tall-boy cans.

Hmm...are there double dry hopped recipes from the 19th century to clone?

Their real calling would have been to run a brewpub. The shift to on-premises sales/taprooms would have helped them had they chosen that route.

I picture something with a few cask engines running with a nice mix of traditional, modern, and experimental old school recipes.
