A disc golf-themed brewpub? The curmudgeon in me says, this is exactly what Bend didn't need.

the other part of me that likes food and beer says, this is EXACTLY what Bend needed.

And this little chunk of land is much nicely spiffed up with lots of fun stuff next door (art gallery DIY "maker space", skate shop, and more...". Decent amount of parking (shocking!). This place used to be, well, a junkyard (Pakit liquidators).

Three out of four food trucks were open on a Tuesday. nice. Tacos were good. the hop-centered brews aren't usually my thing, though. I'm usually into porters and stouts...and on the other end of the spectrum: pilsnsers, ESBs. The CDA was a good thing. Glad I chose it.

Some other comments starting on page 4 of the March edition of NW-WBAYDN, in case you missed it.

Right. I remember glancing over the disc vs. frisbee debate thinking, "man...what crazy town has such an obsession with beer and leisure sports that such a place would even exist".

    oh wait. that's MY town.

A little surprised to see they launched with 8 hoppy beers.

The owners/head brewers have both won multiple World Championships playing disc golf, maybe you know that but that's the main driver behind the disc golf theme. I know they've been working towards opening this for a few years now, good to see it's up and running.

So are they connected to a disc golf course?

I think I read a New School Beer review that said the owners are all about hops. That's their thing.

they just have a single target/basket outside...not an actual course. There are quite a few courses in this area though, although I do not partake myself in the disc arts:

I knew that, but kinda sorta makes curmudgeon me even more skeptical...kinda in the same category as pro bass fishing. I don't get it.

but the part of me that enjoyed the tacos and beer is happy as a clam.

They didn't have jobs and played disc golf for a living, that's what I consider professional/pro when it comes to something like disc golf or bass fishing, otherwise it's just a hobby.

by that definition, Bend is lousy with professional coffee shop internet-surfing squatters.

I know it's Easter and all, and so a fairly slow sports evening. Even so.... Really?

I have seen "pro cornhole" on ESPN2. It really is a thing. And the sponsor is Johnsonville Brats.

I believe my comment, just after shaking my head in disbelief, was "What's next, pro beer pong?"

Mind you, I've totally been able to get behind the idea of professional axe tossing.

Well, in a way, that's been a thing for quite a while. There's a pro timber sports tour, and axe throwing is one of the events. Back east, even some colleges had teams.
