Canbif, Spring 2019!

This is my first Canbif in several years, but to my sender...I like almost every style and I have the bulk of my ratings on Untappd under the same name, but slowly moving them there from Rb

I am interested in local beers that I cannot get my hands on in Gatineau/Ottawa.

My favourite styles are: imperial stout, imperial porter, stout, porter, IPAs in any declinations.

I am not a big fan of sour/wild ales though I do not mind sharing a bottle with friends.

To my recipient, I have already started to watch releases of local products. I will start looking at your profile so that I can try to send you beers you have not tried yet.

I’ve been known to consume beers of all styles and sizes on any/all occasions.

I am on instagram (mike.legge) and have posted a good portion of the beers Ive enjoyed! I enjoy new beers and returning favorites! I have untappd but dont use it regularly.

Some of my favorite styles are fresh IPA/DIPA, farmhouse, saisons, grisette, most things BA or foudre aged, especially wine barrel, wild ales, mixed/spontaneous fermentation, lambic.

I also enjoy well crafted lagers (pilsners and german styles mostly). Vim and Vigor from Tooth and nail is one of my favorites.

I love interesting beers that have some uniqueness. I also love a good stout (regular and/or BA) every now and then especially with winter coming. But will drink most anything that is well made!

I don’t have too many specific wants but am a huge fan of breweries such as Anchorage (Time Waits for No One and Darkest Hour 750ml are the only 2 beers on the top my wish list that I have been trying to find for a while), Jester King, Auval, anything from those places (or similar spots) would be amazing. Have not had much from the US in the way of hops.

The styles I typically don’t enjoy are anything Pumpkin, heavily spiced beers (cinnamon, nutmeg etc.), hefeweizen, anything smoked, black IPA’s, and beers heavy with lactose (Milkshark and well done stouts being the exception). But I’m open if you have one that you think is a must try!

The big thing for me is to try interesting beers I can’t get around here. Odds are if you like it I will!

To my Target:

My target will be receiving a box loaded with East Coast goodies (which we have in spades) and some cellar pulls. Hopefully they post a fairly detailed wants list so I can tailor a box to their specific preferences!

Hint 10:
Let's say that each of us has three "names" (our first, last and user names). If we take one of each of our names and attach a very common first name to each as if it were a last name (i.e. Doctor John and Electros John) one of us will be a moderately successful entertainer of some sort and one will be a very famous criminal of some sort.

I am certain you've had 1 of the beers I am sending and would be surprised if you hadn't already tried 2 others before (just a hunch).

I had 6 hints of beers not to repeat without having to be a stalker, and then I got another 10 hints by being a stalker. Only 2 of the 10 hints were helpful to my cause due to location.

The above investigative work was not done using untappd (don't have it), this, or the other site.

 

As I still have not been able to find my target’s ticks, wants or likes on any website , I’m hesitant to send out yet. But I basically have a good portion of my box ready to go.

You still haven't posted your preferences in this thread yet. Hopefully your Untappd profile is somewhat relevant as I've based some purchases on that.

It's not too late as I will finalize the contents in the next few days and ship on Monday.

I'm quite easy to please, I just want to try whatever you think are great local beers that I can't get here. Really appreciate anything in the top 100 I haven't tried, but don't worry too much about that. My least favorite styles are herb/spiced beers, fruit or pumpkin, and farmhouse/sour/wild but I try to have an open mind. Not really huge on the hazy IPA thing, but again willing to try if you think it’s great.

 

To my target:

You live in a city bigger and older than mine.

I am not likely to ship for another week, as the upcoming NS Craft Beer Week will likely yield a couple of offerings tailored to your tastes.

 

I think I have a fairly strong inkling as to whom is shipping a box my way and I'm definitely pumped!
