Wow, super not inspired by the events this year. Most of them are just "do _____ activity while drinking beer". Not many tap takeovers, or anything other beer weeks do that get people excited.

And, they are really emphasizing the "Bellingham" in BBW. The Left Hand night at Firefly and the Funkfest at Aslan Depot tonight are the only events featuring beer from not here. i go to the breweries on the regular, whats so different about this week?

The lager symposium at Wander interests me, but I've got RollerBetties then. Shrug.

Completely agree, a lot of these events could be done any time, why wait for beer week? These events should be special, but they're anything but. This feels as if there's zero effort or thought put into these events.

Keeping beer week in September might have been one way to combat this I think. Seattle beer week has been happening in May for 10 years now, and moving BBW to the end of April has kind of hurt beer week up here overall IMO. Brewery reps get stretched thin trying to make cool events happen in both markets within such a short time frame.

    Understood and agreed.

The argument against the September time frame was the fresh hop fests and GABF all smooshed together. Shrug. Nothing is ever gonna be perfect for everybody, but......

I did hit the Funk thing at Asian Depot, but had to leave before the brewers showed up to talk about the beers. Very interesting taplist.

I will be hitting Barleywood Squares tomorrow, as that's always a personal favorite.
