Fantastic batch this year. Aromas and flavors of huge raisin, plum, fig, date, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, biscuit, and brown bread/crust; with light notes of molasses, milk chocolate, cocoa, oak char, leather, tobacco, peppercorn, and yeast earthiness. A bit of booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Light herbal, grassy, peppery hop bitterness; and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy, silky, velvety, rich malts; light slickness, sticky hops, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter/tannic dryness, no cloying/astringency. Dangerously smooth sipping, mild increasing warmth of 13.1%, minimal lingering barrel booze. Perfect balance of super rich malts, fruity yeast, and bourbon barrel presence/integration. Not overly boozy, tannic, or drying on the barrels. Already grabbed plenty more, a real shelf beer this time around. Super easy to find. English Barleywines are my favorite style.

Awesome Black DIPA. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, black currant, blueberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, biscuit dough, toasted dark bread malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery hops; and roast/charred bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; balanced creamy/silky/bready malts, sticky hops; some resins/rinds, and chalky char/roast in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing hop/char bitter dryness; no hop astringency. Very smooth, not overly aggressive, minimal warming 7.8%. Awesome Ella, Mosaic, Falcolners Flight, Amarillo profile. Extremely juicy and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a perfectly balanced wheat, oat, black, roasted malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness from lingering resin dryness. Spot on stuff, not overly charred on malts. I am glad I got the pack. Still waiting for Black IPAs to make a comeback.

Aromas and flavors of huge red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, light peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate honey, cracker, white bread dough malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Slight booze in the aromas as it warms. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts, sticky hops, and some resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing lingering bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Dangerously smooth, not aggressive, mild increasing warmth of 10%. Feels like Simcoe, Citra, Amarillo, and Columbus. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; with a nice balancing bready malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness, very well attenuated for the ABV. Will always grab this when I see it, same with Bodhi.

Aromas and flavors of big mandarin orange juice, lemon, lime, red grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, and light peppercorn/pine hops; with moderate wheat, biscuit dough, light honeyed malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness earthiness. Very mild pine, zesty, herbal, floral, grassy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; very creamy/bready wheat/oat mouthfeel, with slight sticky hops. Slightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no cloying/astringency. Minimal warming 7%. Super smooth/soft finish, and refreshing for the style. Spot on Amarillo, Mosaic, Citra profile. Amazingly juicy and lightly dank/earthy hop complexity; perfect wheat/oat/malt balance, not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. Glad this is in distro now. Going to get more of this batch for sure.

8 year revisit review. This one is long overdue. Fantastic. Lasting rocky head retention/thick foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate honey, caramel, bread dough, toasted biscuit, light nutty malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; balanced creamy/bready malts, sticky hops, and some resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, no cloying/astringency. Very smooth, not aggressive, minimal warming 7.5%. Fantastic Nugget, Warrior, Columbus, Simcoe, Palisade profile. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a great balancing dark/Munich malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. Lower score than what I put back then, but I am sure it is just as good as it was 8 years ago. Got a full pack in Ohio last month. 4.23
