After some thought, my variant preference:

    1. Loadstar
    2. Handjee
    3. BBADL
    4. Rrari
    5. Chemtrailmix
    6. Rye BADL
    7. Cavaleiro
    8. Brosure
    9. BBA DVR
    10. RBA DVR
    11. Lounge
    12. FVM
    13. Reptilefund

Honestly, 4-7 are pretty interchangeable for me as are 8-11, but there's a very long distance between 11 and 12-13. Happy to trade either one of those away if that's what I get. I'd also probably swap Handjee for any two others since I've had it several times.

    Really stoked for these variants.
When are the tap times going to be released?

Checked out the weather on 2 different sites, yahoo showed mid 78/57 with storms, and on Weather Channel, it's 86/65 with PM showers.

I like the variant list in its entirety. Wouldn't be bummed about getting any of them, really.

As for the weather, I'm seeing 82F, mostly sunny with a passing shower. My guess is that maybe 1-2 rain showers pass by quickly, but then it will be humid as hell.

Either way it will be hot and humid, and I can't wait for those refreshing stouts to cool my palate.

awesome variants list, really happy Lounge is back, sleeper from last year that I found really enjoyable and different, same here would be happy with any variant, prefer any that I have not had, and hoping my group doesn't get all the same. We ended up with 6 Brozerkers! Very interested in loadstar. Neapolitan DL will be interesting, hope to try them all on tap,

Can't wait for the world's greatest bottle share once again.

Guilty as charged.... I haven’t been contributing to the conversation. Too busy trying to allocate and drink every new sour, NEIPA, gose...... gotta catch them all!

Idleness aside, I dig this variant list. Hell, I might even be content with the Reptilefund. I still have a HDQ from last year sitting, that I traded my Spaceforce! for on the way back to the car. Hoping to get a real adjuncty one this year.

Has anyone ever ubered back to Chicago/suburbs after? I know in a normal night it would be like 65 bucks, curious how awful the boost is in early evening there.

My excitement is growing by the hour.

Edit: are we going to try for a BA meetup and whale toast? 11a, right east of lazer?

I envision you slowly sharpening your sword with a whetstone and a creepy glint in your eyes.

But seriously, wouldn't mind catching some of you guys to talk about important things like politics, religion, basic tenets of supply and demand, etc. I've got a group of 7 and we want to stake out a spot for sharing, realxing, and a general rendezvous point. What time do we probably need to be in line in the AM to accomplish this? Keep in mind, complete DLD noob and I have no idea what I'm doing here.

If you get in early, you can grab a table in the big tent. That’s a nice central location for tap tents, food, restrooms, music, variant pickup, etc. - also tons of people around for impromptu sharing outside of your group. Downside is it’s kinda loud and busy and you wanna keep an eye out for people swiping bottles. In the past we’ve grabbed a table and piled our bags and backpacks in the middle so we can all collectively watch them.

No meet ups unless @Quilentro and @Jmorey dance off
Other than that I’ll be easy to find

Thanks. I think that's what we're thinking. Define early please? I know that definition has probably changed a bit with the randomization of variants.

As another point of view, I’d probably avoid the tent. It’s just too crazy and as long as the weather is nice, it’s more enjoyable to be part of that. Or, maybe start off in the tent to get a taste of that, and then move out to the open air.

Yeah, I don't generally look for the tent either. I tend to roam around the whole time, maybe only sitting down a couple of times for food. I think sitting down during DLD is dangerous. You may never stand back up.

I'm not sure about this guy. I think he's just waiting for an opportunity to steal my Reptilefund...

Randomization only affects how early you go to pick up bottles- the tent fills up quickly after the gates open, so if you wanna be there, I’d go there first (or at least send 2 or 3 of your party to claim a table).

@croush isn’t wrong, it can get crazy in there, which is why we’ve selected a table near the edge the last couple years so we aren’t as caught up in the madness. We also are always rotating in and out as people go for food, bottles, coffee, water, bathroom, etc so it’s not like we’re just sitting there all day. It’s just nice to have a home base and there aren’t many other good places to do that - only other tables are back in the morning holding pen which is not central. Though if a quieter, less intense space is what you want, maybe that’s a good call.

Either way I wouldn’t waste too much thought on it, if you are anything like me your first Dark Lord Day is more something that happens TO you, regardless of your best laid plans. Embrace the beery chaos and you’ll have a grand time.

I remember that when we tried getting an Uber last year, the surge was at $120 just to get to Hammond. We waited about 30 minutes and walked to the ride share area, and the price had dropped to 35
