I just feel that they're pretty lucky to be where their at currently. Almost losing to teams like Pitt and BYU doesn't bode well for a matchup with a team like bama with legit defense and offense. ND's D has had their moments, but lets be real, the only shot a team has to compete with them is to show up with a real offense. ND doesn't even come close to fitting the bill unfortunately. That's why I'd rather see a team like Oregon match up with them (even though it's possible they get crushed too as their defense is highly suspect)...

Trust me, I learned as a child that Notre Dame is only going to break your heart, sooner or later. I don't take anything for granted. That said, saying that ND's defense has "had their moments" is a MASSIVE understatement, and I'd like to see their offense be stronger and more consistent, but the bottom line is they've pulled it out for 11 games in a row now, including against teams with good defenses—like Stanford, who for that matter, just beat Oregon, one of the hottest offensive teams in college football.

So, y'know. I'm not going to assume anything here, but don't count out the Irish :-)

Have only had a handful of Russian Imperials, but this one is near the top of the list.

Also IMO one of the more badass labels. Simple but badass.

 

They've also looked pretty bad against teams that don't have good defenses / offenses (Pitt and BYU). Most people who follow cfb closely know the variance involved in any season and how difficult it is to outlast the odds and go undefeated. Props to ND for doing that so far this year. Personally I think that variance has helped ND this year and if this same season was replayed x # of times, their average would probably be 2 losses (or maybe more). Again, just my opinion and can't really substantiate it with evidence. Also, I think that a matchup against bama in the NCG would lead to the line being the largest it's been in recent history in favor of bama. Also, since I went to a non-AQ school for undergrad I usually root against the SEC (so I'm far from being an SEC homer). Best of luck to you though and I'm not intentionally trying to rain on your parade. If I was an ND fan I'm sure I'd be stoked tonight. Live it up man.
