Pipeworks Releases and Updates (2019)

I opened a BA Coconut Jones Dog on Friday and had a similar experience - the smoothness from when it was fresh has been replaced by a slightly metallic taste. The rest of the group tasting it agreed. It's still drinkable, but it's no longer the near 5-star experience it was when it was fresh.

 

Had a regular old Ninja vs Unicorn the other day for the first time in at least a year and was blown away. Forgot how amazing that beer is

 

Should we be expecting a silent, semi-silent, loud or other type of ba release this week/weekend for ICBW?

 

Is a BUG pour list going around? I could see that being a good tip-off though my understanding is that BUG isn’t necessarily BA heavy

Super easy to get in and out today. Had a pour of roasted agave heart and it is incredible. It wasn’t on my shopping list, so I didn’t get any... but it might be the perfect dark lord day session beer.

Highlight was the affable bro in front of me didn’t notice the brewery cat until it jumped right in front of him, from counter from counter, and he jumped really high too. We all had a good chuckle.

Note: terrifying when you realize cat is chuckling, too.

 

The somewhat bad news on the BA front continued for me over the weekend. I decided to crack open a BA Hyper Dog from the most recent batch (Winter 2018). I started drinking it myself and thought it had was very strong coffee, but had some greenness to it and I didn't really get any barrel. I know from other coffee stouts I've had that there can be some green flavors, so I wasn't sure if this was my lack of coffee tasting ability or something actually off. After a handful of sips, I concluded it didn't quite taste like other BA Hyper Dogs I've had, but I was on the fence about whether it was actually bad or just different tasting. I had another BA member swing by to exchange some beers, so I gave him a taste and told him I was on the fence about its status. Right off the initial taste, he was certain it had turned.

As an FYI, I have had all these sitting at room temperature in my basement since release, so that could certainly be accelerating any issues compared to others that have refrigerated them. I know the storage isn't ideal (i.e.cold), but I've held many other beers in the same conditions (including PW BA beers from 3-4 years ago) and they are completely fine. I'd recommend drinking soon, and hopefully you have had them refrigerated.

Tastes like the HB dudes were all “Yo guess what we brought our bucket of lactose!”

And the PW dudes were all “The fuuuck???”

 

Did they make em dump out the lactose and replace it with Oats?! Feel like Pipeworks would actually list the lactose unlike some folks...

 

Is this the phenomena when brewers get too cold in their extremities while wearing poor shoes in the snow and suffer frostbite?

Afterwards, they lactose.

Add me to the camp who’s had a bad BA Hyper Dog. Opened one over the weekend. The was was....just ok, but it smelled like feet.
