Brute IPAs, Hazy IPAs, and Milk Shake anything. Tail wagging the dog, or styles in search of fads?

I have not seen many Brut IPAs locally but the Hazy IPAs and Milkshakes are still selling briskly.

    Cheers!

Sir, I respect your opinion. After all, it's yours. To answer the question, I wouldn't write off any style because they all have their supporters. Cheers!

Although I will say I don't get Brut IPA's. Every one I've had has just been a dryer, slightly more carbonated IPA.

But if people enjoy them, then I support their choices.

I can live without milkshake anything, but I like hazy IPAs if they're done well. As for Brut IPAs I'm still on the fence as I've had some good ones and some bad ones but not enough to make an overall decision on the style.

If there was one style I'd get rid of though it'd probably be black IPA. I like some of them, the ones that stray a little bit and have some chocolate and roast flavor to them, but a lot of them are just dark and leave me wondering "why?".

A second to that would be wheat wine. I've had some very good ones, but also some very boring ones. In the end I just don't think they offer enough to justify themselves versus a standard barleywine.

Meh. Why write off any styles?

To each their own, that's the beauty of craft beer, if you don't like it, don't buy it.

Maybe Unicorn Fart beers aren't for me, but a lot of people like them and that's ok.

Maybe this thread should be re-titled 'Pompous BA'ers that can kiss off'.:grin:

Of the 3 you mention, Milkshake has been the most disappointing to me.

    Heresy!

Also, I've never had a Black IPA that didn't have some kind of roast, chocolate, coffee, licorice, etc. flavor to it, that's kind of the whole point of the style.

If you don’t like it just move on to a style you like.

Yea fuck variety. Give me a porter, red, amber and maybe a traditional uk ipa. Screw progress and innovation. Get me back to the 90s!

Not sure about blends, say 60% soda and 40% beer. Is there really a place for them?
