I stopped going to Dark Lord Day when I realized it may put my marriage in jeopardy. So staying close to home today and starting with a 2016 in honor of the day. To all my virtual bar brethren going, have fun and be safe (and stay hydrated on great beer).

I’m going to be in mourning today.
    For Lester has left us.

    Have a great Saturday, everyone!

Denmark is playing USA today in the hockey world championships. So I've put on my Danish team jersey and poured an American beer.

Expected it to be a lot more fruity from the smell of it. First few sips were thick and bitter but as it opens up there's definitely some fruity and sweet notes underneath. Cheers!

    Allo mes amis!

Well what can I say. First time in Belgium, not even there for long, not even in Brussels and I miss the place already....

2 hour connection and I am in CDG.

Man are the food and drink options at Cdg abysmal.... I am missing Brussels already...

Well happy to be here... working on second wind.

The most sad looking croque Monsieur ever.

    Cascade Leffe IPA? Yes please...

All in all, feeling ok.. looking forward to more beer??? Oh hell yeah..

    Cheers!

    Have a nice Saturday BA.

Amazing as usual this year. Aromas and flavors of huge mango, honeydew melon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate honey, white bread dough, spicy rye malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hops earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium-full bodied with balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts and sticky/resin/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resin/rind dryness, no hop astringency. Minimal warming ABV, dangerously smooth. Insane dankness across the board. This is basically just imperial Born Yesterday IMO, very similar if not the same hops. Ekuanot, Galaxy, Simcoe, and Mosaic was the first batch, probably similar here. This has all of the same dankness at a much higher ABV, while remaining well attenuated and not overly sweet for over 11.7%. Mosaic and Ekuanot are my favorite hops. Got 2 packs immediately. Might even get a third if they keep hanging around.

Amazing as always. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, nutty coffee, vanilla, cream, caramel, brown sugar, marshmallow, toffee, fudge, bourbon, rye whiskey, coconut, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, raisins, smoke, and herbal/peppery hops. Light roast/char bitterness and bourbon/rye/oak spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is fantastic. Light sticky hops, chalky roast, bourbon/oak tannins, and increasing dryness. Dangerously smooth sipping, mildly warming 12%, minimal barrel booze. Super rich malt complexity and balanced vanilla/coffee flavors; with amazing rye barrel presence/integration. Never overly boozy, tannic, or drying. Not overly roasty or bitter. One of the smoothest BBA beers I have had. Great price as well. Year round shelf beer now. I can still buy 2017, along with 2018 vintages.

One of the first Metal albums I ever listened to back in high school. Completely forgot about this band, but have been revisiting this week. They just re-released this album for the 15th anniversary.

Good day BAs! It's starting off to be one of those days when there's a mysterious bright light in the sky and the humidity is <100%. End of the world? Maybe, because my IPA tastes pretty mediocre. Today's New Breakfast Beer:

This is the second cryo-based IPA I've had and I gotta say that so far I ain't impressed.

Amazing as usual this year. Aromas and flavors of huge juicy/lightly tart/tangy strawberries, tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, lemon zest, orange peel, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate wheat, biscuit, white bread dough, light honey malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Very mild pine, grassy, citrus peel bitterness; and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very smooth and creamy/bready/grainy wheat/oat mouthfeel; light sticky hops and acidity. Slightly increasing lingering bitter/tart dryness. Amazing soft spot on mouthfeel for the style. Super drinkable for 6.8%. Super juicy/lightly dank hops with awesome balance of strawberry flavorings. Perfect wheat/oat/malt balance, and not overly sweet/heavy for the style. Can't say I prefer it over the base beer. Equally amazing spot on NEIPA. Hope they package some other variations eventually. Base M-43 is my top most purchased beer right now.

A lil Malpais Stout to get me in the mood for our big NM/4Corners trip coming up this week. Getting down to S.Fe, ABQ, then up to Bears Ears Nat Monument for a new project. Beautiful but remote country out there. Cheers!

This was mind blowing. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, toffee, marshmallow, graham cracker, fudge, brownie/cake batter, biscuit, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of molasses, dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Very mild herbal, grassy, spicy hops; and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Light carbonation and full body; very creamy, silky, velvety, rich malts/lactose; slight slickness, sticky hops, and chalky roast. Slightly increasing lingering bitter dryness; zero cloying sweetness. Insanely smooth/soft nitro finish; minimal warmth of 10%. Perfectly balanced super rich malts, lactose, and flavorings; with just enough earthy hops to balance sweetness. This is their best dessert stout to date! Tastes exactly like S'mores.
