Don't want any particular type of beer to go away, but I can live without hazy IPA's, black IPA's, and extremely sour beers.

This isn't about improving beer...it's about our pathetic ADD culture.
And please don't use the word "progress" when describing the momentary, regional appeal of a beer recipe. That is idiotic.

    Hazy beer is an abomination.
I made and drank such swill from a bucket in college, a week after I put it down.
But back then, we were smarter than to claim or pretend it was good.

Other than the fact that kriek and framboise lambics have been brewed for a lot longer than almost all other styles. Both were popular in the early 1900's. Given that some would call these traditional styles, I'm not sure why you would say that beer is not supposed to have fruit in it...

I agree. Too many IPA's. IPA, Double Ipa, Imperial Ipa, Red Ipa, Black Ipa, Brut Ipa, Hazy Ipa, Ipa Ipa. Enough already!

Yeah, in football and basketball practice we were given a bucket of very salty water with a towel in it. We were directed to chew and suck on the towel. Salt tablets for severe cramps were effective. These worked for ne in pracice and game situations.

Our coach for both sports had been at the high school for 40 years already. He's a hall of famer. Jerry Tarkanian is modern by comparison. Coach Jameison used leather helmets until the late 60s.

That's a very cool bit of information that I would have never known aboot if you hadn't just posted it here. Kudos!

Of the college sports coaches present and past, Jerry and Jim Valvano are the 2 who I have the most respect for.

Sipping on some more Chili Amber Ale from Altitude Chophouse, I am doing.

Interesting, as I saw Wookie Jack as the summit of Black IPAs. Since FW discontinued, I have been pretty disinterested in even seeking out the style.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVED Wookie Jack and it's rye spiciness. I was upset when the industry turned its back on the style out of nowhere. Not for a lack of good beer out there, there was something unique about the style that satisfied my palate for dark stout-like roastiness and crushable IPA. Beer's like Uinta's Dubhe were always welcome in my home and I tell every brewery I visit to make one and I'll come in a buy it up.

The very best thing about craft beer at this point is the variety of offerings that are so readily available. Don't wish any to disappear, just make another choice. ;-)

We're on the same page when it comes to this style. Wookie, Dubhe and ST's Iniquity are Gold, Silver and Bronze for me. Of these, only Dubhe is still brewed but, honestly, I have not seen it here in PA for a long time.

I buy the styles that I like, I leave the others for others. No way will I chastise others for the styles they like, each to their own.

Well maybe an eye-roll when someone orders a "lite" something....

Sorry. There's a brewery over here (Southern California) that used to make innovative Belgian-style Brew (hence their name) that all but abandoned them to make what is essentially the same IPA over and over again with a different label (subtle differences of course, change a grain here a hop there). They are pretty famous/infamous for their IPAs now so the end of IPA's would most certainly kill them off.

I love Jim Valvano, Terry Holland, and Dean Smith. Dean Smith was a quiet force for social change who truly re-arranged the landscape of sports for good. This whole one and done recruiting business is ruining college basketball. It is a freaking joke. I grew up as a huge ACC fan and I now detest the whole scene. I played college ball and it was the most fun I ever had....

A buddy of mine is on the fire team at a local refinery, and when he went to Texas for training, in the middle of summer, they were made to drink pickle juice. Says it was horrible, but very effective.

Enough with the Imperial every thing.
I want to taste my beer and enjoy more than one. $7 for 6 ounces. Enough with the rocket fuel.
