Anyone try yet? Just grabbed a 4 pack, for $10.99 figured it was well worth a shot.

Just picked up a four pack at Wegmans. Sitting on my patio, enjoying this nice day. I’m about 1/3 through my first can. Very tasty. Look, a Victory IPA/DIPA is not going to excite most NE style loving BAs. It’s pretty old school - you can see through it! But very well made. If, like me, you still enjoy those IPAs as well as the new style, you’re bound to enjoy it. I also enjoyed the nearly half price of other local DIPAs.

This is my take as well. Just a really solid DIPA at a good price, and super fresh. If this is going by the usual 5 month enjoy by dates for Victory’s hoppy beers, this is inside a week old. I’ll be picking up more for sure.

This is nice to hear. I've already abandoned the NEIPAs and moved back to the classics. I'll search this one out.

Great to hear. My brother and I just split a four pack, haven’t tried yet but will probably get to it this week.

I'll pick some up for sure for the holiday weekend.

    Isn't this a re-release from years ago?

They used to come out with it draft only around the time Philly Beer Week started.

    Keith, below is from mybeerbuzz:

“This morning we bring you a new beer and some update packaging coming from Victory in Downingtown, PA. Liberty Bell Ringer will be a double dry-hopped double IPA that uses Strata, Simcoe and Centennial hops. The beer will swing in at 8.7%-AbV and you’re looking at the 16oz can.”

    https://mybeerbuzz.blogspot.com/2019/02/victory-adding-liberty-bell-ringer-cans.html

    Strata is a new hop:

    “Year Released — 2018”

    https://learn.kegerator.com/strata-hops/

So, this version of Liberty Bell Ringer is a new beer.

    Cheers!

Chroma914 is right about when this seasonal Victory beer was originally introduced. And Jack is right that this release of LBR represents a modified dry hop version. If I remember right, the reason this beer was introduced was to serve as "a DIPA substitute" for Hop Wallop since it was discontinue the year it appeared before the start of Philly Beer Week.

Will give this a shot, I too could use a change up from the NEIPA about now. The original Liberty Bell Ringer was great back in the day.

Just opened one of my two cans and it’s a very enjoyable IIPA. Big beer, little sweet, some citrus and awesome bitterness. I’m with you @breslinp and have been doing the same. Give it try I bet you’ll really enjoy it.

I feel ya but I am picky with the classics and have been since the begining, pretty much any darker IPA with caramel/crystal malts is meh to me e.g. Torpedo, Hop Devil...

I picked up a four pack and very glad that I did and your description is spot on. Victory did a great job with this and it hits every note: fruity, juicy, sweet, bitter...great balance for such a big beer, I will be thoroughly enjoying drinking through the pack.

How notable is the "sweet" part? I am often not a fan of IIPA/DIPA beers since they can be too cloying for my palate.

    Cheers!

I just picked up another 4 pack and I don’t find this beer overly sweet, and I’m not a fan of sweet boozy DIPAs. I really think this beer is a good value and I hope it becomes a regular seasonal release for Victory. It’s a nice new/old school combination to me. Fruity with a nice level of bitterness.

Not too noticeable and just enough to balance it out, @hillind is spot on below:

I would probably drink this often if it made the year round lineup, would take this over Dirt Wolf and many others (but truth be told as I alluded to earlier I like the lighter IPAs way more than the darker/amber ones).

@JackHorzempa the best way I could describe this beer is a cross between NEIPA/Pils/old school IPA, I pick up characteristics of each. You may want to pick this up and review for NBS

I enjoyed The LBR I had yesterday. As said it hits all the right notes. Interesting serious also. I wonder if we can expect a slightly tweaked Hop Ranch in the future.

SPOILER ALERT: Tomorrow in NBS I will be discussing a new beer from Sly Fox: Circle of Progress Dry-Hopped Saison.

    Cheers!
