I had it Sunday and was very disappointed that Planning Jersey was sold out. My wife and I both thought it was fantastic.

Carton is getting rid of chips for tastings and the new price is $10. Starts May 22

damn...all god things come to an end... but 6 tasters for $10 is still cheaper than many/most.... will $10 include all items on tap (e.g reg. Coffee/variants), or will former 2-chip beers be extra? if the former, then $10 seems even more fair...

the $5 flight was always the best deal around..

The thing I will miss the most is being able to buy the flight, bring some chips home that I do not use and bring back again. Too often I would go to pick up and only want a taster or 2.. this makes that much tougher to do.

If it is infact 6 tasters for $10 this is still a good deal. I read it as 4 on the card, then a 5th taste, then the 6th beer will be in a tbd sized glass?

@augiecarton maybe we can get an explanion of how this works?
Also spitballing here but would you ever let someone do a "blank" spot for a taster and give them a chip to come back at another time? Driving a distance there and having 6ish tasters is not something I would be comfortable doing and i am sure others think that way as well

edit - so I read the post on FB/IG - sounds like what amounts to 5 pours of varying sizes, in a logical progression to meet your taste preferences. Makes sense, and I like the concept - just hope it doesn't slow things down too much at the tasting bar.. seems like it should be pretty fairly priced, assuming a taster size is the smallest serving for the high ABV beers,

Not a fan of this new system at all. If I just wanted a pour or two to try something before buying cans to go I’m pretty much forced into have 3 more beers.

My other question with this is regarding glasses. Do we still get 1 taster at a time or now 4 at once? Place is so small and at times cramped that you are just standing there holding your taster somewhere. If we got the first 4 initial glasses at once that may be difficult finding room at times.

it's 4 4 ounce tastes than an appropriate sized "pour" so if you did 5 coffees in jan that was 10 chips now its 10 bucks. the only way its less beer for money is if you are me. if I walk in and do 4 tasters of boat plus a 12 oz boat it would be $10 where by chips you could do that for 8 or so. there are ways to game this to get more ABV oz per dollar but over 7 years i think we have done enough to dissuade most of that kind of drinker so we will deal with the difference between hedonistic abandon and gluttony on a case by case basis.
don't want to taste through the card? hold it bring it back next time

this involves another bar where the office used to be and 8 more taps, hopefully this helps stretch the room

oh and since i may still be the biggest purchaser of boat out in the wild i am pretty sure $10 for 28oz of Boat is still pretty good dollar value

Since Carton has a history of doing things the right way,I'm inclined to to give them the benefit of the doubt rather than complaining about a change I have yet to experience.
But that's just me. I'm odd that way.

I've got no problem with this new taster system, still probably one of the best deals for a flight at any NJ brewery. Frankly, we were Stealing That Beer at the old "system" prices. I haven't been steered wrong by Carton yet and I don't see that changing. #fanboi

I have a couple of tokens left. Maybe I'll have them made into cuff links.

Oh man, this sounds great. I've always liked the idea of a "lighter" Regular Coffee....probably why I loved Basic Coffee so damn much

And this sounds delicious, too. Carton's Berliner game has been on a whole 'nother level lately

Happy to say that despite my initial reservations, that this new system worked absolutely fine tonight and I was wrong. Maybe thats just me being stuck in my ways.

Could care less about any type of price increase, as it is still a great deal when in comparison to others in the area.

What initially gave me reservations was two things. Possibly the shift to a typical “flight” system made me think of every other institution where you get a “paddle” or whatever to go with your flight all at one time. Was worried about lack of space for such a thing in an already small space. This is not a concern at all as its pretty much business as usual with one glass given at a time. My other concern was not being able to have a pour or two to test stuff out before getting things to go rather than being forced to do a whole flight. Dispite initial confusion this has been clarified that cards can be taken home and completed as you go so this is not an issue.

Overall everything was smooth as usual tonight and I appreciate you being there to address any concerns.

Can you get the whole flight at once if you prefer? Honestly that’s something I prefer to having to go up after every 4 oz taster.

Now I know, or at least think I know you have been in our tasting room. So I’m gonna keep this as simple as I can, no.
We have never been a steady room, and we are a tiny room. We catch “boat landed rushes”” “rained at the beach rushes” “movie got out rushes” “Saturday at 3:30 rushes” “big wedding at the Shore Casino rushes” and so on. Our TR is essentially full or empty and seldom in between. The best possible service in that room for the comfort of all is not requiring and addition foot of counter/table/barrel/window ledge space per body when it’s full.
